What if changing your relationship with shoulder pain could help you trust yourself more?
Imagine what it would be like to recognize what you really want or need... and actually honor it.
To say no without feeling like you have to justify yourself.
To express what you're feeling without immediately worrying about how someone else will react.
To trust that what you're sensing inside yourself matters.
For many of us, that doesn't come naturally.
We've spent years learning to override our own knowing in order to keep the peace, avoid conflict, or make other people happy.
And those patterns can become so deeply ingrained that we don't even realize how much we're holding ourselves back.
Sometimes that holding back has a physical component, too.
Tight shoulders. A contracted posture. A sense of bracing against something.
But what if, instead of seeing that tension as something you need to fight or get rid of, you began getting curious about it?
What if it were an opportunity to connect with the parts of yourself that learned it wasn't safe to express what you really feel?
And what if, as you began to understand those parts, you discovered that you didn't have to keep overriding yourself?
Maybe you'd find it easier to set a boundary.
Make a decision.
Speak your truth.
Or simply recognize that your own needs matter, too.
Not because you forced yourself to change.
But because something inside you began to feel safe enough to let you be more fully yourself.
That's the kind of possibility I'm interested in when I talk about changing our relationship with physical symptoms.
If you'd like to explore this perspective further, my free ebook, "If It Didn't Hurt," offers a different way of understanding pain and what we might discover through it.
