Meet Dr Julie. Business owner, physical therapist, mom, lifelong learner, and someone who genuinely believes that movement can change lives.
Dr Julie’s path into physical therapy started long before she ever stepped into a classroom. Growing up, her mother worked as a nanny for a child who had suffered a traumatic brain injury. The two were the same age and became close friends, giving Dr Julie a firsthand look at the challenges her friend faced and the profound impact physical therapy could have on someone’s life.
That experience sparked a passion for helping people build strength, independence, and confidence in their bodies, leading her to earn her Doctorate.
Over the past 18 years, Dr Julie has worked with patients from all walks of life in a variety of healthcare settings, including military, hospitals, and rehab centers. She learned a lot about the kind of physical therapist she wanted to be and the type of care she wanted to provide.
That journey led her to build Sergent Wellness, a bespoke physical therapy office in Louisville.
Outside the office, she is deeply committed to living the life she encourages in others. She loves strength training, challenging herself in the gym, hiking, traveling, meal prepping, and yes, trying to keep her plants alive. By far, her most meaningful and transformative role is being a mom to her daughter, Kate.
At the heart of all these roles is her commitment to movement. Exercise is a cornerstone of how she maintains balance, strength, and resilience in her everyday life. It keeps her grounded, gives her mental clarity, and helps her show up fully for the people and responsibilities that matter most. She trains for the life she wants to live today, and for the strength and independence she hopes to maintain well into her marginal decade.
Whether she’s learning something new, working toward a fitness goal, spending time with the people she loves, or helping someone feel more capable and confident, Dr Julie brings the same thing to it all: curiosity, determination, and a genuine desire to help people live fuller lives.
This is Dr Julie.
And we’re pretty grateful she followed that passion all those years ago. 💙
