The Stinging Nettle Apothecary and Integrated Wellness Clinic

One of the most common questions we get in the shop is what an apothecary actually is and we love answering it 🌱

People walk in, look around at the jars, tinctures and shelves of herbs, and tell us they’ve never been in an apothecary before or that they aren’t quite sure what one is.

For centuries, apothecaries prepared and compounded medicines, with plants at the heart of it.

Here, we carry that tradition forward by working with medicinal plants to make tinctures, teas, syrups, powders, infused oils, salves and more, right here in our shop.

The tools may look a little different these days, but there’s something pretty special about carrying this work forward while staying connected to our roots..

If you’ve ever wondered what goes on behind our door, follow along ✨

A modern apothecary rooted in herbal medicine.

After a long summer break, classes are back 🌿 and we’re kicking things off with MAKING HERBAL TINCTURES!

Tinctures are the process of extracting the medicinal properties of plants with alcohol or glycerine to create potent remedies.

Join Clinical Herbalist and expert medicine maker Samantha Grant of Samantha Grant for a hands-on evening learning how to make herbal tinctures at home.

We’ll discuss working with both fresh and dried plants and how to make folk-style preparations in the field. You will also make your own herbal tincture to take home.

We’ll cross the street if we want to.

Our block on 4th street has been closed for 8 months and we are so happy to have it open again! It’s been a wild ride as new business but we made it. Thank you to everyone who chose to support Loveland Downtown District during this massive construction project. We couldn’t have done it without you 🧡

Have you been down to see it yet?! It looks so good!

If you have stopped by on a weekend, chances are you’ve met Ashley 🧡

Ashley recently returned from maternity leave and has been holding down our weekends at the shop.

She is an herbalist, our lead product maker, and truly one of the kindest humans. She’s behind so much of what happens here, from helping customers find support to carefully crafting many of the products that fill our shelves.

We are so grateful to have her back and grateful for the care, heart and knowledge she brings to .stinging.nettle every day.

If you see Ashley this weekend, make sure to say hello 🪴

the construction project is no joke! While we are very excited for what is to come, as a new small business, it’s been tough to jump in. To every human who has shopped online or walked into our store during all of this, thank you 🧡

A glimpse at some of the common things we see as clinical herbalists. We don’t approach the body as isolated systems. We look at patterns, systems and the full picture of someone’s health.

Herbal medicine can be supportive across a wide range of concerns, but the approach is always individualized. No two people walk out with the same protocol. This is where we start.

If you are looking to dive deeper, we offer one-on-one consultations in the clinic to better support you 🧡

As the weather warms, we begin reaching for herbs that help support the body’s natural cooling process.

Our cool down tea is refreshing, hydrating and easy to enjoy iced. Adding a few sprigs of spearmint from the garden would be delish!

Available in the apothecary and online 🌱
