😂🎉 Happy Boss’s Day to ME! 🎉😂

Shoutout to my amazing team for keeping this business running! 🙌

The team consists of:
👩‍⚕️ The boss
📞 The receptionist
🗂️ The office manager
💰 The accountant
🧹 The cleaning crew
📱 The social media manager
☕️ The coffee department

All positions are currently filled by the same overworked, under-caffeinated person. 😂☕️

Perks of being the boss? I can give myself a raise whenever I want… unfortunately, the bank account keeps rejecting my requests. 💸🤣

Would I recommend working for myself? Ask me again after my next staff meeting. 😂

🚨 WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU WAKE UP WITH A UTI?

You wake up with burning, urgency, and that “I need to go again” feeling… but you don't want to wait several days for a primary care appointment or sit in an urgent care waiting room.

With Direct Primary Care, getting evaluated can be much simpler. ❤️

Here’s what it can look like at Jessica Gerner, NP – Direct Primary Care:

📞 Call or message me.
If you're a DPC member, you can reach out directly through HIPAA-compliant messaging or by phone.

🗓️ Get seen the same day or next day when available.
No waiting weeks to get on the schedule.

💻 Telehealth may also be an option.
Depending on your symptoms and situation, we may be able to start your evaluation virtually.

🧪 Need a urine test?
You can provide a urine sample in the office. A urine dip is included with your visit.

If a urine culture is needed, it can be sent to the lab. The culture has a $15 additional fee, if you dont have insurance. We always let you know a head of time if any additional fees will occur.

💊 Medication may be available right here in the office.
When appropriate, certain medications can be dispensed in-office, so you may be able to leave with your medication in hand instead of making another stop at the pharmacy.

🏠 Then you can go home and get back to your day.

That's one of the benefits of DPC: more access, more time, and fewer barriers between you and your primary care provider.

And of course, if your symptoms suggest something more serious or you need a higher level of care, I'll help you determine the appropriate next step.

Healthcare, the way it should be.

⏰ So…what are appointments like at a Direct Primary Care practice?

One of the biggest differences you’ll notice with DPC is TIME. ❤️

When you become a member of my practice, your appointments aren’t about rushing you in and out the door.

🩺 Your first appointment is typically 1–1½ hours.
This gives me time to get to know you, learn about your health history, understand your concerns, and—most importantly—learn what matters to YOU.

📅 Follow-up appointments are time-based.
As I get to know my patients, I generally have a good idea of how much time we’ll need for different types of visits. You can also choose the amount of time you feel you need when scheduling.

Maybe you need 15 minutes to check in about a medication.
Maybe you need 30 minutes to discuss several concerns.
Or maybe you need more time for something more complicated.

The goal is to make the appointment fit the patient—not squeeze the patient into a predetermined time slot.

One of the reasons DPC practices can offer this type of care is that they tend to be smaller practices with fewer patients, allowing for more meaningful time between the patient and provider.

And communication doesn’t have to wait until your next appointment!

📞 Call the office and you get me directly.
📱 You can also text me through Spruce or send a message through the patient portal.

No wondering who will call you back.
No explaining your situation over and over to multiple people.

Just you and your provider.

That’s one of the things I love most about Direct Primary Care—having the time to actually know my patients. ❤️

🌿💊 Modern Medicine or a More Holistic Approach?

One question I get is: “Are you more into modern medicine, or do you take a holistic approach?”

Honestly? I’m somewhere in the middle. And I believe healthcare shouldn’t be about choosing one approach for everyone.

At Jessica Gerner, NP – Direct Primary Care, I focus on YOU, your health, and your goals.

Sometimes medication is the right choice. Sometimes lifestyle changes, nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management, or other non-medication approaches may be appropriate. And sometimes, the best plan is a combination of both.

🩺 My job isn't to tell you what you have to do.

My job is to:
✔️ Listen to your concerns and goals
✔️ Explain your options
✔️ Discuss the benefits and potential risks
✔️ Answer your questions
✔️ Give you the information you need to make an informed decision
✔️ Work WITH you to develop a treatment plan that makes sense for you

I don't believe in a “one-size-fits-all” approach to healthcare.

Your treatment plan should take into account your health, your preferences, your lifestyle, and what matters most to you.

Healthcare should be a partnership — not a prescription handed to you without a conversation. ❤️

That's one of the things I love about Direct Primary Care: I have the time to actually listen, educate, and work together with my patients to find the approach that fits them.

Healthcare, the way it should be.

🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

Breast cancer awareness is about more than wearing pink. It’s about knowing your body, keeping up with preventive care, and making sure you have a healthcare provider you can turn to when you have questions or concerns.

💗 This is one of the ways Direct Primary Care can help.

At Jessica Gerner, NP – Direct Primary Care, I provide personalized primary care with more time to focus on you — not just your symptoms.

As a DPC member, I can help with:

🩷 Preventive health and wellness visits
🩷 Breast health concerns and evaluation of new symptoms
🩷 Discussing your personal and family history and potential risk factors
🩷 Helping you understand when screening may be appropriate
🩷 Coordinating referrals for mammograms and other diagnostic testing when needed
🩷 Answering questions and helping you navigate your healthcare
🩷 Ongoing primary care and follow-up

One of the benefits of DPC is having direct access to your primary care provider without worrying about a copay every time you need an appointment.

And you don't need health insurance to become a DPC member.

🎀 Your health shouldn't be something you put off because healthcare feels complicated or expensive.

If you have questions about your breast health, preventive care, or how DPC works, I'd love to talk with you.

💡 Did you know you can pair Direct Primary Care with a high-deductible health insurance plan?

If your health insurance premiums are expensive, but you still want access to quality primary care, Direct Primary Care (DPC) may be worth considering.

Here’s how it can work:

🏥 High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)
You choose a health insurance plan with a higher deductible and typically a lower monthly premium. This plan can provide coverage for unexpected or major medical expenses.

❤️ Direct Primary Care Membership
You pay a simple monthly membership directly to your primary care provider — no insurance is billed for your DPC visits.

With my DPC practice, your membership includes:

✅ Unlimited primary care visits
✅ Same-day/next-day appointments when available
✅ Longer, more personalized appointments
✅ Phone & secure text access
✅ Preventive care
✅ Chronic disease management
✅ Annual wellness labs for members ages 21+
✅ Transparent, predictable monthly pricing
✅ No copays for your DPC visits

💰 Why consider this approach?

Instead of paying for a lower-deductible insurance plan with a higher monthly premium, some people choose a higher-deductible plan for major medical coverage and use DPC for their everyday primary care needs.

And if you don't have health insurance at all, DPC can still provide affordable access to routine primary care. Just remember that DPC is not health insurance and does not replace coverage for emergencies, hospitalization, specialists, surgery, or other services outside the membership.

Accepting NEW PATIENTS!

What if primary care felt a little more personal? 💙

That’s the idea behind Direct Primary Care (DPC).

Instead of rushing through appointments, DPC focuses on building a relationship between you and your primary care provider.

At Jessica Gerner, NP – Direct Primary Care, membership includes:

✨ Longer, more personalized appointments
✨ Same-day or next-day appointments when available
✨ Unlimited primary care visits
✨ Convenient phone and HIPAA-compliant text communication
✨ Telehealth visits when appropriate
✨ Preventive care and chronic condition management
✨ In-house testing and select medication dispensing
✨ Transparent, straightforward monthly pricing
✨ A provider who actually gets to know you

Whether you're generally healthy, managing a chronic condition, tired of feeling rushed at appointments, or simply want easier access to primary care, DPC may be an option worth exploring.

And you don't need to have a traditional healthcare plan to become a member.

My goal is simple: make primary care more accessible, convenient, and personal.

💼 Employers: Have you considered pairing a High-Deductible Health Plan with Direct Primary Care (DPC)?

If your business is struggling with the rising cost of traditional health insurance, there may be another way to provide your employees with access to great primary care while potentially lowering your overall benefits costs.

Pair a high-deductible health plan with Direct Primary Care.

Here’s how it can work:

🏥 DPC provides unlimited primary care visits — employees can see their primary care provider without paying a copay for each visit.

💰 Potentially lower insurance premiums — choosing a high-deductible health plan can have a lower monthly premium than a traditional plan with lower deductibles and higher premiums.

❤️ Better access to primary care — employees have direct access to their provider for routine care, chronic disease management, preventive care, sick visits and more.

📱 Easy communication — DPC members can communicate directly with their provider through secure messaging, making it easier to get questions answered without always needing an office visit.

Instead of paying higher insurance premiums for benefits your employees may not use frequently, consider using a high-deductible plan for major medical expenses and DPC for everyday primary care.

At Jessica Gerner, NP – Direct Primary Care, we offer affordable employer memberships for small businesses with 5 or more employees.
