🐾 We’re halfway through National Pet Wellness Month, so here’s a little reminder: wellness doesn’t have to be complicated.

Think about the everyday basics:

🥩 NOURISH with nutritious food and fresh water
🐕 MOVE with regular activity and play
😴 REST and recharge
🧠 ENRICH their mind and emotional well-being
💜 CARE for their everyday needs
👀 OBSERVE the little changes

That last one is especially important. You know your pet better than anyone. Their appetite, energy, sleep, behavior, routines, and even their little quirks all help tell their story.

Small choices made consistently can add up to a lifetime of better wellness. 💜🐾

Which of these six areas are you focusing on with your pet right now?

🐾 October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month!

Behind every kennel door is a dog with a story. Some have known the comfort of a home before. Others may still be waiting to discover what having a family feels like.

Shelter dogs come in all shapes, sizes, ages, and personalities, and each one is waiting for their next chapter. 💜

If you've been thinking about adding a dog to your family, this month is a wonderful time to visit your local shelter or rescue and meet the dogs waiting for homes.

And if you've already opened your heart and home to a shelter or rescue dog, I'd love to celebrate them!

📸 Share a photo in the comments and tell us their name.

Let's fill this post with some happily-ever-after stories. 🐾💜

🐾 October 4th is World Animal Day!

Today is a day to celebrate animals of every kind and recognize the important place they hold in our homes, our communities, and our world.

From the pets who share our lives to wildlife, farm animals, working animals, and those still waiting for a home, every animal deserves kindness, compassion, respect, and responsible care. 💜

There are so many ways we can make a difference, and they don’t have to be big.

🐾 Adopt or support a local rescue
🐾 Donate supplies, food, or your time
🐾 Be kind to the wildlife around you
🐾 Advocate for animals who need a voice
🐾 Give the animals in your own life a little extra love

Today, let’s simply celebrate the animals who make our world a better place.

What animal holds a special place in your heart? 💜🐾

🐾 October is National Pet Wellness Month!

Pet wellness is about so much more than what we do when something is wrong. It’s about supporting the whole pet throughout every stage of life.

Their body. Their mind. Their environment. Their everyday lifestyle. 💜

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that make a difference: good nutrition, movement, rest, enrichment, routine care, a safe environment, and simply paying attention when something seems different.

Because when we know what’s “normal” for our pets, we’re more likely to notice those little changes.

Here’s to making small, thoughtful choices that support happier, healthier pets all year long. 🐾

🐾 It’s National Dog Week!

September 20–26 is a whole week dedicated to celebrating the dogs who bring so much joy, companionship, laughter, and love into our lives.

They greet us like we’ve been gone for days…even when it’s only been 10 minutes. 😂

They get us outside, keep us company, make us laugh, and somehow always seem to know when we need them close.

This week, take a little extra time to celebrate your dog in the way THEY love most. Maybe it’s an extra walk, a favorite game, a car ride, a special treat, or simply more time together. 💜

And because it wouldn’t be National Dog Week without seeing some dogs…

📸 Drop a favorite photo of your pup in the comments and tell us their name!

🐾 Happy National Hug Your Hound Day!

Today is a sweet reminder to give our dogs a little extra love and attention.

For some dogs, that might mean a big snuggle. For others, “hugging” looks more like a belly rub, ear scratch, favorite walk, playtime, or simply sitting together. 💜

The best part? Our dogs usually have their own way of showing us exactly what kind of affection they enjoy most.

So today, celebrate your hound in THEIR favorite way!

Your dog pauses before climbing the stairs, takes a little longer to stand after a nap, or suddenly wants to stay closer to you.

These changes may seem small, and it is easy to call them “just getting older.” But our dogs communicate through changes in their movement, behavior, routines, and emotional needs.

My newest blog shares some of the subtle signs of aging we may overlook, along with questions that can help you identify patterns and decide what to do next.

Our senior dogs have spent years learning how to read us. As they grow older, it is our turn to listen a little more closely.

🐾 What does “holistic” pet wellness really mean?

National Holistic Pet Day is a wonderful reminder that caring for our pets means looking at the WHOLE animal, not just one symptom or concern.

Holistic wellness considers things like:

🥩 Nutrition
🐕 Physical activity
🧠 Emotional well-being
🏡 Home and environment
😴 Rest and routines
🌿 Natural wellness support
🩺 Preventive and veterinary care

It isn't about choosing “natural” instead of veterinary medicine. It's about looking at all the pieces that may influence your pet's overall well-being and making thoughtful choices for the individual animal.

Sometimes one small change doesn't tell us much. But when we step back and look at the whole picture, we may begin to notice important connections.

💜 Here's to helping our pets live happy, healthy, well-supported lives!

🐾 Today is International Blind Dog Day, a day to celebrate blind and visually impaired dogs and remind us just how incredibly adaptable they can be.

A dog who loses their sight can still enjoy walks, playtime, cuddles, exploring, and a wonderful quality of life. Dogs rely on so much more than their eyesight. Their incredible senses of smell and hearing, along with familiar routines and surroundings, can help them confidently navigate their world.

💜 We can help by keeping their environment predictable, using our voices to guide them, and giving them plenty of patience as they adjust.

Most importantly, blindness doesn't change who they are or how much love they have to give.

Today, let's celebrate these amazing dogs and the people who help them experience life to the fullest. 🐾

Do you share your life with a blind or visually impaired dog? I'd love to hear about them.
