The theme of this weekendโs Gritty Sisters retreat was The Pearl. Iโm coming home with that image in my heart: luminous, beautiful, built from grit.

There is something powerful about women coming together to rest, share, and build each other up. That fellowship reminds us of our strength, our beauty, and how much it matters to have people who see us and encourage our light.
Before our closing sound bath, I pulled three cards for the group: Resistance, Resurrection, and Recharge. The message I felt was a loving reminder to carry what we found together back into everyday life. Resist the urge to shrink again or minimize our needs. Bring forward the parts of ourselves weโve tucked away. Keep making time for the rest and care that help us feel like ourselves.
And then there was the song. Three of us had separately found ourselves singing โThis little light of mine, Iโm gonna let it shineโโone earlier in the week and two on Friday evening. None of us were together when we sang it. Discovering that connection felt like a little wink from the universe. Let that light shine.
Even our departure brought a small messenger. While we were packing up this morning, a slug literally crossed my path in the garage. I took its slow, steady movement as a reminder to honor my own pace, stay connected to what Iโm feeling, and allow softness to be part of my strength. We can move forward without rushing ourselves or pushing past our needs.
Thank you, Debra, and all the Gritty Sisters, for the fellowship and the reminder of what we carry within us.
We are the pearlโluminous, beautiful, built from grit. And our light belongs in our everyday lives, too. ๐
