Sometimes I think about letting posed newborn photography go altogether. My heart keeps pulling me toward something different. Something quieter. Something that feels a little more like life as it is, rather than life arranged just so.

And then the light falls just right, a tiny baby settles into a beautiful pose, and I remember why I fell in love with it in the first place.

How do you choose one thing when your heart keeps reaching for another? I think that's been my trouble for as long as I can remember. I've never been very good at staying in one place, fitting neatly into one box, or deciding that one way of seeing the world is enough.

Maybe the trouble isn't that I don't know what I want. Maybe it's that I see something worth loving in more than one direction. And I'm still learning how to make room for all of it.

Just know, if you want a beautifully posed studio session, I can do that.

If you want something softer and more lifestyle-driven, I can do that too.

And if you want to stay home and let your story unfold naturally, with a more photojournalistic approach, I can do that too.

I know there are a LOT of photographers out there.

And I know choosing one can feel like a lot. There are so many things to consider: style, price, experience, safety, personality, what the session includes, and whether the photographer you choose is someone you feel comfortable trusting with your baby.

I get it.

Not every photographer runs their business the same way, and not every photographer has the same experience, training, approach, or priorities.

So this year, I want to do something a little differently.

I want to show you more of what goes into the work I do, what I've learned over the years, and why those things matter when you're choosing someone to photograph your family.

Because you deserve more than a pretty gallery when you're deciding who to trust with these memories.
