🐯🐯 Two Great Tigers, One Sorry Kirksville…and One Stubborn🌼 Miss Daisy! 🚗

We had big plans for the Macon Homecoming Parade!🧡🏈🖤

Our volunteers were ready. Our protest-style signs declared, “Two Great Tigers, One Sorry Kirksville!” Two inflatable tigers 🐅were ready to roar for the Macon Tigers and Mizzou Tigers. 🐯📣 We had candy, Bourke Street Community Garden coloring pages, seed packets, and information about Macon County Extension programs—all ready to share with the crowd. 🍬🎨🌱

And then there was 🌼Miss Daisy, our beautiful gold 1931 Model A and the star of the show. 🚗✨

Just before the parade began, 🌼Miss Daisy decided she wasn’t going anywhere.🤨

We tried. We tried again. And then we tried some more. We kept thinking we’d get her started and join the end of the parade—but before we knew it, the crowd was dispersing. We had missed our chance. 😔

🌼Miss Daisy may be stubborn, but so are we! 💪

Later that evening, she finally started! 🎉 We took her for a spin and then headed to the BIG GAME🏈. The the Macon Tigers finished the night with an outstanding homecoming victory over the Kirksville Tigers! 🏈🐯🏆

So our parade plans didn’t work out, but the night still ended on a winning note. Two great Tigers, one sorry Kirksville—and one stubborn 🌼Miss Daisy who finally decided to cooperate! 🐯🐯🚗

Since we missed the parade, we still have PLENTY of goodies to share! MARK YOUR CALENDARS & come see us at the Bourke Street Community Garden in downtown Macon on Saturday, October 31, from 9 a.m. to noon for our final farmers market of the 2026 season! 🍂🌻

Wear your best costume and stop by for candy, garden coloring pages, seed packets, and more. 🍬🖍️🌱 We’ll hold a costume contest at 10 a.m. for kids ages 17 and younger, with great prizes for the winners! 🎃👻🏅

These pictures show the parade participants—and one temperamental Model A—you didn’t get to see along the route Friday afternoon. 📸

Congratulations to the Macon Tigers on an outstanding homecoming victory! 🐯🏈🏆 The parade may have passed us by, but 🌼Miss Daisy eventually hit the road, our Tigers brought home the win🏆and we still have plenty of goodies to share. We’d call that a pretty sweet ending!
Come celebrate with us at the Bourke Street Community Garden on Saturday, October 31st from 9am-Noon! 🚗🍬🎃

Macon Area Farmers Market

📣📰EXTRA! EXTRA! Read all about it!! 📰📣

🌱✨ Calling all young growers, makers, bakers, and entrepreneurs! ✨🌱

We’re excited to introduce the NEW Youth Farmers Market at the Bourke Street Community Garden in downtown Macon! 🧑‍🌾👩‍🌾

This opportunity is open to ANY school-age youth in our area—you do not have to belong to a 4H Club to participate. If you have grown it, made it, baked it, created it, or raised it, we want to help you share it with the community! 🍅🌻🍪🎨🧼

The guidelines are simple:

✅ The product must be made or grown by the participating youth.
✅ Youth vendors may be any school age.
✅ At least one adult must be present at the youth’s booth or table during the market.

This is more than a chance to sell products. It gives young people practical experience with entrepreneurship, customer service, pricing, and marketing while encouraging creativity, confidence, and self-sufficiency. 💚

The Youth Farmers Market will be held at the 114 Bourke Street Community Garden in downtown Macon during our upcoming market on Saturday, September 26th, from 9am - NOON.

Ready to participate? Register using the link below! ⬇️

We can’t wait to see what our local youth bring to the market! 🌿🛍️🌟

🍷🍇 If you’re at the Fork & Cork Festival, be sure to stop by Macon’s wonderful local w**ery, West Winery,—one of our outstanding supporting partners of the Macon Area Community Garden!

While West Winery crafts & sells award-winning, fantastic local w**e, they also generously support the Macon Area Community Garden by collaborating with us at events like this.

Right now, they’re hosting a special display of live plants donated by Leigh Simon, set up on the sidewalk outside the w**ery. These plants are available for a free will donation, with all proceeds going directly to help our community garden grow and thrive. 🌿💚

Enjoy some local w**e, grab a beautiful plant, and show your support for the garden all in one visit!

Big thanks our local partners for helping us nurture our community. Cheers! 🍷🌱✨
