PART I: Client Interview

This interview was such a great experience and to hear directly from a long term client is such a wonderful way to gain perspective!

If you did not already know, my name is Rose, and I offer online clinical nutrition counseling one-on-one throughout the state of California.

Many of my clients have found me just like Monica from the video did: when they have found themselves in a time of transition. Nutrition then naturally needs to shift alongside these transitions - which is exactly what Monica and I did over these past few years of working together. We identified the changes that were needed and made an agreement in the beginning that we would both follow through.

At each follow up appointment we set manageable steps to take and reviewed lab results from their primary care provider. Monica chose to use the food journaling tool in the first year of working together, and that was enough to maintain lasting dietary changes. Each time we met we identified areas of growth, and what was next.

Monica always showed up ready to engage. There were times when we took more time in between follow up appointments. This allowed time for seeing specialty providers, healing from surgeries, and taking much needed family time.

We met at least every 90 days for an appointment, and that was what was, "crucial," to her, "staying on track."

I really enjoyed this opportunity to speak with Monica, and thought you all might enjoy this segment of our interview to learn a little more about what I do as a clinical nutritionist.

🫶Heart Healthy Nutrition

This is my most recent production for the work I do with the Agency on Aging - providing nutrition education to Senior Citizens as well as those home bound due to medical needs.

The focus on heart health was a fun way to redirect the conversation around cardiovascular disease back to our foods. Most people I work with are taking one or more medications; many are to support heart health. Their food intake still matters.

-Most medications have nutrient interactions meaning there are supplements/vitamins being directly influenced by the drug doing its work in the body
-Personalized nutrition takes into consideration these interactions to make an individualized dietary plan
-Prevention matters too, behaviors in early adult hood are going to indicate what comes later

I love to bring it all back to food. Something we all can relate to. So please enjoy this little write up I did for you to learn a bit more about how to support your life force 🫀

That’s a wrap for public programming 2026!

This year has by far been the biggest year for me in terms of offering free public programs. I am so grateful for each and every one of you that showed up (yes, that includes you mom). It was a dream to offer group work in addition to my one on one clinical care - that dream is now a reality thanks to so many incredible partnerships!

The rest of this year is focused on my small online group cohort, and clinical clients. If you or someone you know is interested in either, please reach out - there are still ways to connect before the end of this year! 3 months to finish off 2026, the year is not over yet!

Are you a part of the Yosemite work force? Well we are here for you. As it is well known, Yosemite is an incredible place to be able to visit. Over time food access has become scarce, and I find my conversations with many park employees concerning when it comes to how they’re managing to feed themselves.

The Yosemite Health and Wellness team and the Yosemite Medical Clinic have done wonderful things to support this community! And this weekend I am so grateful to be a small part of this very big day.
