Your body often knows before your mind catches up.

Overthinking dating asks:

โ€œDo they like me enough?โ€
โ€œShould I text back now or wait?โ€
โ€œWhat did they mean by that?โ€
โ€œAm I being too much?โ€
โ€œHow can I make this work?โ€

Embodied dating asks:

โ€œHow do I feel around them?โ€
โ€œDo I feel safe, relaxed, and able to be myself?โ€
โ€œIs there mutual effort?โ€
โ€œDo their actions match their words?โ€
โ€œAm I choosing themโ€”or chasing reassurance?โ€

Overthinking keeps you in your head, trying to predict the outcome before the relationship has had a chance to unfold.

Embodied dating brings you back to the present. You notice how your body responds. You pay attention to consistency, not just chemistry. You let interest be mutual instead of trying to earn someoneโ€™s attention.

It doesnโ€™t mean ignoring your intuition or never feeling anxious. It means learning to pause before turning anxiety into a story.

You donโ€™t have to decode every message.
You donโ€™t have to perform to be chosen.
You donโ€™t have to abandon yourself to keep someone interested.

Dating becomes less about controlling the outcome and more about staying connected to yourself while discovering whether someone is truly compatible with you.

Save this as a reminder: dating is not only about whether they choose you. It is also about how you feel when you are with them. Share it with someone who needs that reminder.

Complex trauma is more than one event that you try to forget. It can shape the body, relationships, sense of safety, emotional regulation, and how we see ourselves.

The ๐—ง๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜‚๐—บ๐—ฎ ๐—ฆ๐—ผ๐—น๐˜‚๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€ ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—บยฎ provides a structured, five-phase approach to complex trauma recovery, bringing together science-based interventions, trauma-specific treatment, body-based work, relational healing, and individualized support. The framework progresses from preparation and memory work through somatic treatment, healthier relationships, and rebuilding for posttraumatic growth.

Trusted since 2015, Vibrant Health Company brings specialized experience to this work, including two doctoral-level clinicians and a multidisciplinary team committed to care that recognizes both the science of trauma recovery and the deeply human work of soul mending. VHCโ€™s current website confirms the practice was founded in 2015 and describes its care as specialized, individualized, and integrative.

The five-phase framework developed by Dr. Traci Baxendale Ball was also published in the Clinical Social Work Journal in 2026 as proposed new guidelines for social workers treating CPTSD, integrating evidence-based practices within a phase-based model.

What looks like dysfunction may actually be survival.

Fight. Flight. Freeze and other survival responses (fold, appease, dissociation)can become deeply ingrained when someone has lived through ongoing trauma.

Over time, those reactions may begin to feel like personal flaws.

But understanding why the mind and body learned to respond that way can change the conversation.

Instead of: โ€œWhat's wrong with me?โ€
we can begin asking: โ€œWhat helped me survive?โ€

Understanding comes before change.

Meet Rachael Phillips-Haroski, a pre-licensed clinical social worker at Vibrant Health Company who works with adolescents and children living with CPTSD.

A major focus of Rachaelโ€™s work is adapting the adults' Trauma Solutions Programยฎ for youth, giving younger clients a structured, supported path through trauma treatment. Her approach is calm, collaborative, and creative, especially when traditional methods need to be adjusted to fit the individual.

Outside the therapy room, Rachael finds expression through music, time outdoors, and life with her cats. What gives her hope is seeing people keep showing up for themselves, even when healing feels difficult.

Complex trauma is not just a problem where you're remembering a bad thing that happened.

It can shape how you regulate emotions, how you see yourself, how you relate to other people, and how you experience your body.

That is why trauma treatment cannot stop at processing what happened.

Complex trauma calls for a broader approach that addresses safety, memory, the body, relationships, and rebuilding.

You can love someone deeply and still keep repeating a painful cycle. ๐Ÿ’”๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿฅ€๐Ÿค

You separate. Create distance. Tell yourself it has to end.

Then they return, wanting to reconcile, and hope comes rushing back.

Maybe there will be another โ€œhoneymoon phase.โ€ But if the underlying patterns remain, the same rupture can return. ๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ’”๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ

Avoidance can feel protective in the short term.

But when we consistently avoid trauma-related memories, thoughts, and feelings, symptoms can stay active.

That does not mean you have to tell every detail of your trauma or overwhelm yourself by reliving it all at once.

Trauma processing can be gradual, adapted, and gentle.

The goal is not flooding. It is finding safe ways to face, feel, and deal with what happened, one step at a time, with appropriate support.

Reduce body inflammation! New study shows link between being triggered and C-reactive protein! READ MORE โฌ‡๏ธ

When PTSD or CPTSD is persistently activated, the body can remain in a prolonged state of threat response. This ongoing stress activation can affect the nervous, hormonal, and immune systemsโ€”and, in some people, may be associated with increased inflammatory activity, including higher levels of C-reactive protein (CRP).

CRP is a blood marker of inflammation. Elevated levels can signal infection, injury, autoimmune disease, chronic stress, or other health concerns.

CRP is not a measure of trauma itself, and an elevated result does not prove that PTSD or CPTSD is the cause. Infection, injury, autoimmune conditions, obesity, smoking, sleep disruption, and other factors can also raise CRP. However, the connection is biologically plausible: chronic threat activation, disrupted sleep, stress hormones, and related changes in health can contribute to inflammation.

There are multiple pathways to chronic disease in CPTSD. These may include persistent PTSD activation, inflammation, autonomic nervous-system dysregulation, hormonal changes, poor sleep, pain, social isolation, and difficulty accessing consistent care. These factors can interact over time, which is why trauma-informed mental and physical healthcare are both important.
