A few falls ago,🍁 I learned a little thing or two about the beloved fall flower, Chrysanthemum. These flowers are such a staple in the fall time, especially around farms and horse shows. I can totally see why.. The reds, oranges and yellows fit the fall vibe perfectly, not to mention they are small, yet typically rather full so they are not in your face or looking ill or flapping around spooking horses left and right..

I, much like everyone else, had decorated the front of my paddocks with 🎃 and little arrangements of Mums. They looked so beautiful and when you pulled into the barn we had such a nice little fall vibe going on.

Well, my sweet Tommy decided one evening he really did not enjoy my flower arrangements and ATE THEM, along with his pumpkin!

To wrap this story up and make this short, that is when I discovered Mums are one of the most toxic plants for horses! We did have to call the vet, poison control and I did have some anxiety, but the good news is that Tommy did not eat enough flowers and carried on his day just fine! So, my fall note to everyone with horses is this:

Please, please stop using Mums to decorate your horse properties and events! Although I do agree they are beautiful, stick to pumpkins and straw!🤢

Nothing fancy to post about today. Just dropping by to remind you to go to the barn, give your horse a treat, hug them and tell them how much they mean to you.

It’s so easy to get caught up in goals, small bumps in the road and all of the madness.

In return it is also so easy to forget just how lucky we are to have these creatures and to appreciate the small “stuff.”

So, go hug your horses, especially for those of us who can’t anymore💔

I talked about setting news goals and looking at the future of the business. I am extremely happy to announce I have become a board certified equine massage therapist through NBCAAM!

Although there is no national governing body for bodywork, such as what veterinarians fall under, allowing anyone and everyone to become a bodyworker, I am proud to have taken and passed an exam put on by a council of sought after bodyworkers that prove my knowledge of massage, safety, health care and anatomy.

Here’s to reaching more goals in 2026!

Happy Fourth of July! Spending time with my family and friends this weekend, remembering all of those who put their lives on the line that allow us to have this time. I hope everyone and their ponies stay cool!❤️🤍💙

The weather lately has been.. a bit warm🥴 so it can at sometimes leave you at a loss of what to do with your horses.

I know for me, personally, I always looked forward to the warmer days so I could enjoy my horses, but then always came the challenge of what to do when it was too warm. I often felt guilty that they were getting time off because they got most of winter off, but I, obviously, didn’t want them getting sick in the heat either. I always needed to remind myself to take a step back and remember where I needed to put my focus. Instead of being let down it was too hot to do anything, I needed to look at where the holes in our routines were and work on those things instead of jumping a course or practicing our dressage test.

I spent a lot of those days doing ground work, pole work in hand, exploring new places and working on making sure my horses had the best ground manners they could.

What do you like to do with your horses when it is too hot to ride? Tell me in the comments!⬇️
