If I were starting my fertility journey today, I would do a lot of things differently.
Not because I have regrets—but because I know so much more now.
There was a time when I truly believed my body was broken.
After years of hypothalamic amenorrhea, restrictive eating, over-exercising, and being told I might struggle with infertility, I spent so much energy trying to force my body into health. I thought if I just worked harder, ate "cleaner," or controlled things a little more, my body would eventually cooperate.
What I didn't realize was that fertility isn't about forcing your body—it's about supporting it.
In this week's episode of **The Lean Life Podcast**, I'm sharing my personal fertility story and the exact nutrition and lifestyle foundations I would focus on if I were trying to conceive today.
We talk about:
• My journey from losing my menstrual cycle to becoming pregnant with my daughter
• The nutrition and lifestyle changes that create a strong foundation for fertility
• Why your healthiest body isn't always your leanest body
• How to understand your menstrual cycle and identify your fertile window
• The lab work I recommend reviewing, including thyroid health, iron, blood sugar, vitamin D, and other key nutrients
• The role of gut health, hormones, stress, sleep, inflammation, and environmental toxins
• My favorite foundational supplements for both women and men
• Why healing your relationship with food, exercise, and your body may be one of the most important pieces of the journey
One of the biggest lessons I've learned is this:
**Your body isn't working against you.**
It's constantly responding to the environment you create through the food you eat, the way you move, your stress levels, your sleep, and how safe your nervous system feels.
While every fertility journey is different—and there are never guarantees—there is so much within your control that can support your reproductive health.
Whether you're actively trying to conceive, planning for the future, or simply want to optimize your hormones, I hope this episode leaves you feeling informed, empowered, and hopeful.
