Your work schedule should never stand in the way of staying healthy. To help local workers and commuters stay ahead of illness, CG Public Health is opening our clinic doors after hours and on weekends this October. Walk in after your shift or book an appointment during these extended times:

Saturday, October 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Wednesday, October 21 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Location: 2570 4th St SW, Suite 1, Mason City. Standard flu ($44), high-dose ($86), and COVID-19 ($125) vaccines available. We bill most major insurance plans. Iowa leads the entire nation in the percentage of homes with radon levels exceeding 4 pCi/L and 20 pCi/L, with average indoor concentrations sitting at more than six times the national average. Breast cancer does not wait. Regular exams and mammograms are the proven way to catch it early. We encourage all residents ages 40 to 64 to schedule a screening. Routine self exams at home are also crucial for spotting changes in breast tissue. If something feels off, contact your doctor immediately. Learn what screenings are recommended for your age group by the CDC.

RSV causes severe respiratory infections, and every year in the United States, approximately 10,000 adults aged 65 and older die from RSV complications. For adults living with chronic conditions like asthma, COPD, or congestive heart failure, an RSV infection can cause severe flare-ups, lung inflammation, and hospitalization.

An RSV vaccine is recommended for all adults aged 75 and older, and for adults aged 50 to 74 who are at increased risk due to chronic health conditions. You only need one dose. If you received an RSV vaccine in a previous year, you are already protected and do not need a booster this season.

RSV is also the leading cause of infant hospitalization nationwide. While infant antibodies and maternal vaccines are available to protect newborns, CG Public Health does not administer infant or maternal RSV immunizations. We strongly encourage parents and expectant families to contact their primary care provider, pediatrician, or OB-GYN to discuss infant protection options.

If cost is a barrier, CG Public Health helps Cerro Gordo County women access free or low cost screenings through the Care for Yourself program. See if you qualify.
