One more reason to turn up the music. Research suggests that music may be a simple, low-risk tool for easing pain, especially when it is familiar, enjoyable, and personally meaningful. A beautiful reminder that supporting our well-being can sometimes begin with pressing play.

"The findings from our study help explain why music can be an effective, low-risk approach for pain management," Bradt said.

Healthy aging isn't something we start thinking about later in life. It's something we build through the choices we make today.

This article shares practical advice from longevity physicians, but the biggest takeaway is this: small, consistent habits matter more than perfection.

Whether you're in your 20s, 40s, 60s, or beyond, it's never too early, or too late to invest in your future self.

Which healthy habit are you working on right now?

"Five minutes is enough to begin—truly," insists one doctor, to help you "remain engaged in the activities that give your life meaning" into old age.

One of the things I enjoyed about this article is that it gave a name to a practice I've encouraged with coaching clients for years: a "brag list."

I haven't always called it that, but the idea is the same—keep track of accomplishments, encouraging feedback, milestones, or moments that make you proud. For many people, the Notes app on your phone works perfectly. I often recommend pairing it with a gratitude list.

When we're feeling discouraged, it's easy to forget how far we've come. Having these reminders can help us reconnect with our strengths and progress.

I love that this article shines a light on such a simple, practical habit.
What's one thing you'd add to your list today?

Save your compliments. Future you will need them.

We often think of reading as a hobby, but it can also be a meaningful part of our wellbeing.
Whether it's a novel, memoir, audiobook, or a book that helps you learn something new, making time to read can offer a welcome break from the constant pull of our screens. It creates space to slow down, reflect, and engage our minds in a different way.

I came across an interesting report from Storytel, an audiobook and ebook company, exploring the relationship between reading habits and wellbeing. It's an interesting reminder that caring for our health isn't just about what we eat or how we move. It's also about how we spend our time.

I'd love to hear... what's the best book you've read lately? 📚

Last week, I had the privilege of speaking with a group of participants in the Charlotte Mayor's Youth Employment Program (MYEP) Healthcare Pathway on the topic of Building Healthy Habits: The Mind-Body Connection for Success.

Together, we explored how sleep, movement, stress, relationships, digital wellness, and the small choices we make each day influence our health, resilience, and ability to thrive, not just in our future careers, but in everyday life.

One message I hope they carry with them is this:
Your future isn't created by just one big decision. It's created by the small choices you make every single day.

The students were thoughtful, engaged, and asked excellent questions. Those conversations leave me hopeful for the future of healthcare and for the leaders these young people are becoming.

Thank you to the entire MYEP team for creating meaningful opportunities that connect young people with professionals across healthcare.

Not all screen time is created equal.

If you're going to scroll, consider filling your feed with content that sparks curiosity, hope, creativity, or learning instead of leaving you feeling drained.
This article offers an interesting perspective on "bloomscrolling."

What accounts always brighten your day?

Bloomscrolling, or intentionally filling your feed with nature, baby animals, and true stories of kindness, can support real psychological well‑being when the going is tough.
