When the clocks change this Sunday, your body feels it, even if you gain an extra hour of sleep. Darker evenings can throw off your sleep, energy, mood, and even your cravings.

A few simple ways to help your body adjust:

☀️ Get outside in the morning light, even for 10 minutes
🛏️ Keep your bedtime and wake time consistent
🚶‍♀️ Move your body during daylight hours
🥗 Fuel up with whole foods instead of reaching for sugar
💊 Ask about your vitamin D levels, since they can dip in the darker months

These small habits go a long way toward helping you feel like yourself all season long.

I sat down with marriage and family therapist Marisa Giuliani-O’Keefe to discuss the potential affects gut health can have on sexual health. While there’s no direct link to focus on, it’s certainly worth paying attention to.

Should I turn the camera around and ask Marisa questions about love and relationships next?

Fall is a lovely reminder to make space for ourselves, whether that means a quiet morning, a new routine, or learning something new about our health. I’m always grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned, especially when it comes to helping people better understand their health.🍂

My book, Living with Chronic Epstein-Barr Virus: A Guide to Symptoms, Diagnosis, and Recovery, explores EBV and offers readers a place to start when looking for more information about this complex topic. My hope is that it encourages curiosity, meaningful conversations, and a deeper understanding of the questions that can arise along the way.

One is a mind running on overload. The other is a mind that knows how to pause. Your nervous system feels the difference, and over time, that can show up as poor sleep, low energy, digestive issues, or feeling wired but tired.

The good news? Your nervous system responds to small moments of calm. A few slow breaths, a short walk without your phone, or even a minute of quiet before your next task can help your body shift out of overdrive.

You don’t need to overhaul your life to feel better. Sometimes it starts with learning how to pause. 🌿

You've tried eating cleaner. You've tried sleeping more. You've tried pushing harder. And you still feel off.

Willpower can't fix what you can't see. But your symptoms are data: the 3 pm crash, the 3 am wake-ups, the bloating you've "just gotten used to," the mood shifts that seem random.

When you track them, patterns show up that a 15-minute appointment can easily miss.

Start here:
• Write down what you feel and when it started
• Note what makes it better or worse
• Bring it to your next appointment and say, "Here's what I've noticed"

You're not the problem; the missing information is. And we can help.

For decades, I’ve sat across from patients who were exhausted, foggy, and frustrated. They’d seen specialist after specialist. Their labs came back “normal.” Some were told it was stress, depression, or just getting older.

Many of them had something in common: the Epstein-Barr virus.

Most people know EBV as the virus that causes mono. Few realize it stays in the body for life and can reactivate, sometimes quietly, sometimes over and over. Research continues to connect it with a wide range of chronic health issues, yet too many patients never hear about it.

That’s why I wrote Living with Chronic Epstein-Barr Virus. I wanted patients to have what I wish every one of them had gotten sooner: answers, validation, and a clear, science-grounded path forward.

If you’ve ever felt dismissed or unheard, this book is for you. 📖

The symptom isn’t the whole story.

Fatigue, brain fog, digestive issues, skin changes, hormonal shifts, and other symptoms can be signals that something deeper deserves attention.

Functional medicine looks beyond the symptom to explore the bigger picture: nutrition, gut health, stress, sleep, inflammation, hormones, and other factors that may be influencing how you feel.

The goal isn’t just to manage what’s showing up, it's to understand the “why” behind it.

Just like these trees, your body is always working, even when you can’t see it yet.

Healing isn’t always visible right away. Your nervous system, your hormones, your gut — real change often starts without notice, long before you feel the shift.

If you’ve been doing the work and wondering why you don’t feel different yet, that doesn’t mean it’s not working. You might already be further along than you think.
