⨠ANEWU Medical Spa is celebrating 20 years! â¨
Technically, we turned 20 in Januaryâbut weâve been so busy preparing for some exciting things that the milestone quietly came and went.
Yesterday, as I celebrated my own birthday, I found myself reflecting on just how much life has happened over these past 20 years. And I decided itâs definitely not too late to celebrate ANEWU, too. â¤ď¸
For those of you who may not know my story, I graduated from PA school in 2000 and began performing laser hair removal treatments in 2001. By 2002, I was working as a clinical trainer, teaching other medical professionals how to safely and effectively use lasers, intense pulsed light, radiofrequency, and ablative technologies.
As I approached my 30th birthday, I decided it was time to take a chance on myself and create something of my own.
In January 2006, ANEWU Medical Spa opened its doors.
At the time, medical spas were still a relatively new concept, with fewer than 1,500 across the entire country. I certainly couldnât have imagined then what this industryâor ANEWUâwould become over the next two decades.
When I look back, what stands out most isnât the equipment, the treatments, or how much this industry has changed. Itâs the people.
The year after ANEWU opened, my husband deployed to Iraq. For 18 months, my patients became an unexpected source of comfort and support. You checked on me, listened to me, kept me busy, made me laugh, and helped me through a very difficult chapter of my life.
When he returned home and we started our family the following year, many of those same patients celebrated right alongside me.
And here we are, all these years later.
Some of you have been sitting in my treatment chair for nearly 20 years. Youâve watched my life change, and Iâve had the privilege of watching yours change, too. Weâve celebrated marriages, babies, graduations, new careers, grandchildren, and so many milestones in between. That is something I will never take for granted.
ANEWU may be my business, but after 20 years, it has become so much more than that. It represents thousands of conversations, relationships, friendships, and memories that I could never have imagined when I opened those doors in 2006.
So, Iâve decided weâre going to celebrate this anniversary properlyâeven if weâre starting a little late. â¤ď¸
Over the next several weeks, Iâm going to dig through 20 years of photos and memories and share some of ANEWUâs storyâthe early days, the changes, the people, some things that will probably make me laugh (or cringe đ), and a little bit about where weâre headed next.
To those of you who have been with me from the beginning, those who found us somewhere along the way, and those who are just getting to know ANEWU:
Thank you for being part of these 20 years.
I wouldnât be here without you.
Happy 20th Anniversary, ANEWU. â¤ď¸
