I was listening to Dr. Michael Gervais, a renowned high-performance psychologist talk on Susie Moore's podcast. He was talking about FOPO or the fear of other's people's opinions. How many of us have been held back in our lives by FOPO? I know this is something that has plagued me in recent years. Susie had a great insight. She stated that if people are not showing up in our lives the way we want...what are we doing to allow people to treat us this way? We can't change others, we can only change ourselves. So as we reflect, what boundaries are we setting to allow people to treat us this way? How can we stop the fear of worry about other's opinions? How do we show up in a way that is authentic to ourselves? The more we are who we are truly meant to be...the easier it is for us to set boundaries on what is acceptable to us. 1. Ingestion: Offending food must be ingested
2. Recognition: Food when properly broken down into its nutrient componsent is perceived as self. When food is not digested, the large molecule can’t be captured by microvilla. Eventually the large food molecules leak out of the tight junctions and into the blood stream. The immune system perceives these large molecules as invaders.
3. Defense: The Immune system gives the large food molecule an invader sign. The immune system goes to war against that food. This is the role of immunity. T cells present the food antigen to B cells for antibody production and destruction of the antigen.
4. Chemical Warfare: Recognition and activation of the immune system results in chemical mediators such as histamine and cytokines being released from white blood cells.
5. System Manifestation: Tissue inflammation and other symptoms like diarrhea or constipation are from the release of these chemical mediators.
