Sit all day? Here's a hip stretch you can do on the living room floor.

Your hip flexors (the muscles at the front of your hips that lift your knee) spend a desk day shortened. Stand up, and they don't always let go right away. They can tug your pelvis forward and leave your low back and hips feeling "stuck" for no obvious reason. So the tight spot gets blamed on age, when it may just be a muscle that's been folded up since 9am.

This is a kneeling hip flexor stretch from the Corrective Stretching app. Instead of sinking into a lunge and waiting, you work against resistance as the muscle lengthens. That's the Corrective Stretching Technique idea: active, closer to a targeted workout than a passive hold, so the new range has a reason to stay.

Mild soreness the next day is common and often just means the muscle did something new.

The app is organized and personalized by the thing that's bugging you, so you can start with hips today and shoulders, neck or feet when you're ready.

Do this to unlock a neck that only turns one way.

Most neck stiffness isn't in the neck. It's in the muscles that run from the base of your skull out across the top of your shoulder (your upper traps and neighbors). Hours of reaching, driving, or hunching keep them half-clenched, and they pull on the neck like a tent rope.

Here's the assisted version in Corrective Stretching Technique: I give your arm something firm to work against, you gently contract, and the muscle lengthens *under load*. That's the active, resistance-based part. It's closer to a targeted workout than a passive stretch, and it tells your nervous system the new range is safe to keep.

Don't be surprised if you feel it tomorrow. Mild soreness can simply mean the muscle was asked to do something new.

If this sounds like your neck, come find out why it's stuck.

Your client pushes at 20%. That's the whole trick, and it takes a weekend to learn.

Here's what a lot of stretch training skips. When you stretch a muscle fast or far, your nervous system's first move is to guard it: it tightens up to protect itself. That's the "stretch reflex," and it's why a client can feel better in your hands and tight again by dinner.

In Corrective Stretching Technique (CST), the client pushes back at about 20% of their strength while you slowly lengthen the muscle. That's an eccentric contraction (the muscle working as it gets longer). It's just enough effort to tell the nervous system the new range is safe, and gentle enough that it never goes into fight mode. Think of it as a circuit breaker for guarding, not a tug-of-war.

At the in-person CST Level 1 Certification Workshop, you'll learn how to:

-Read posture and fascial lines to find the compensation behind the complaint, not just the sore spot
-Prepare tissue first with modified ashiatsu "mashing," so the stretch has something to work with
-Run the CST protocols for the lower back and upper body, hands-on, with the 20% method

It's three days in Miami Beach: Nov 6, 7 & 8.

Questions are welcome. If it isn't the right fit, that's fine too.

Stop stretching. Start correcting. If holding a stretch and hoping fixed aches, they'd be fixed by now.

Passive stretching pulls on tissue and calls it done — never asks why you're tight, never teaches the body to hold anything new.

Corrective Stretching Technique — active, resistance-based, closer to a targeted workout — assesses first, loads the muscle as it lengthens so change sticks, and treats the body as one connected system. If you're a trainer, massage therapist, or pilates or yoga teacher, this is the toolkit that gets clients real, lasting change. In three days, you can learn to do it.

Last day: 20% off the Corrective Stretching app!

Before the sale ends tonight, here's a self-stretch from inside it.

If your neck and the top of your shoulders get tight by mid-afternoon, the usual fix is to tilt your head to one side and hold. It feels fine for a minute, and then the tension is back by dinner. The upper traps (the muscles that run from the base of your skull out across your shoulders) have been working all day to hold your head up in front of a screen, and a passive hold doesn't ask them to do anything different.

This one works against resistance as the muscle lengthens. That's the Corrective Stretching Technique idea: active, closer to a targeted workout than a passive hold, so the new range has a reason to stay. Mild soreness the next day is common and often just means the muscle did something new.

The app is organized by whatever is bugging you, whether that's neck, shoulders, hips, or feet, so you can start with the one that matters most and add others when you're ready. Completely personalized to your needs.

20% off ends tonight at midnight ET.

A shift that changes how you work with every client: you're not just stretching muscles, you're working the fascia — the web-like tissue wrapping every muscle and bone into long connected lines.

That's why a shoulder complaint can trace to the opposite hip, and why the client who's 'done all the stretches' is still stuck. Corrective Stretching Technique works the whole line: free the fascia with compression, then load it with active resistance so change holds across the chain, not just at the sore knot. If clients keep coming back, this is probably the missing lens.

Learn to see and work the whole fascial line at the in-person Corrective Stretching Technique Certification — Nov 6, 7 & 8 in Miami Beach. To sign-up, comment 'CST' below.

A chest stretch you can do in your doorway. No table, no partner.

Rounded shoulders usually get blamed on a weak upper back. But if the muscles across your chest are short, they pull your shoulders forward no matter how many rows you do. You can't out-posture a tight chest.

This is a self-stretch for your pec major (the big muscle across the front of your chest), and it's one of the moves in the Corrective Stretching app. Instead of just leaning into a doorway and waiting, you work against resistance as the muscle lengthens. That's the Corrective Stretching Technique idea: active, not passive, so the new range has a reason to stay.

You may feel it the next day. Mild soreness can simply mean the muscle was asked to do something new.

The app is built so you can do this on your own schedule, one issue at a time: shoulders, hips, neck, feet. Pick the one that bugs you most and start there.

For the trainers, therapists, and teachers: 'they're tight' is not an assessment. A proper joint assessment — testing range one joint at a time, client lying down and supported so nothing compensates — tells you which joint is actually restricted and which is picking up slack.

Take gravity and stabilizers out and the true limitation can't hide. Corrective Stretching Technique builds every plan on it: assess the joint, find the restriction, load exactly that with resistance. Stop treating symptoms; start changing what drives them.

Learn to assess and correct like this at the in-person Corrective Stretching Technique Certification — Nov 6–8 in Miami Beach.

Sometimes the glutes don't need a stretch — they need to be pried loose first. Sit for years and they get weak AND gummed up: the fascia dries out and sticks to the muscle, like two sponges glued together. Stretch a stuck muscle and you just drag the glued unit around.

Broad, slow compression warms and rehydrates the tissue so the layers slide again — then the stretch has something real to lengthen. Corrective Stretching Technique sequences it: free the tissue, then load it.

The full free-the-tissue-then-load sequence is what we teach at the in-person Corrective Stretching Technique Certification — Nov 6, 7 & 8 in Miami Beach. Reserve your spot, comment 'certify' below.
