A Fort Lauderdale-based autism care provider, ABA Centers of America, is currently facing a federal investigation over allegations of billing fraud, misrepresenting service locations across states, and billing for improper care—such as claiming services during times when patients were napping, with investigators alleging the proceeds were used to fund a lavish lifestyle. Operating regionally under names like ABA Centers of Florida, the company's practices have drawn intense scrutiny from federal authorities. In response to the mounting probe, Maria Isina Areco, a spokesperson for ABA Centers, stated: “We are working with federal investigators and will respond at the appropriate time”.
