Japan now has 107,677 people aged 100 or older.
Asia's longevity secret was never in a clinic.
This September, Japan's centenarian population passed 100,000 for the first time. Singapore has just officially become a super-aged society.
So the West is looking East for answers: stem cells, exosomes, advanced diagnostics, smart buildings.
What gets left out is the one thing Asia has practised for more than 2,000 years.
In Chinese medicine it's called Yang Sheng, or "nourishing life." It isn't a treatment. It's a daily discipline: sleep in rhythm with the day, eat warm and simple food, move gently, release tension before it settles in the body, and protect your energy the way you protect your capital.
Okinawa shows what happens without it. Once its traditional way of life eroded, male life expectancy dropped from 4th to 26th in Japan in a single generation. The advantage was never genetic. It was daily.
Here's the part most longevity conversations skip:
Around the world, people now spend nearly 10 years of life in poor health. For women, it's even longer.
That gap isn't created at 80.
It's created at 45, in the years when you're "fine" on paper:
→ Sleep that no longer restores you
→ A nervous system that never fully switches off
→ Weekends that don't refill the tank
→ Running on discipline instead of energy
You can't buy back healthspan at a clinic later if you're spending it every night now.
For the founders and senior lawyers I work with, longevity doesn't start with an exosome infusion. It starts with three questions:
1. Is your sleep actually restoring you?
2. Can your body come down after a high-stakes day?
3. Are you building reserves, or spending them?
New technology may well extend our lives. Ancient practice decides how many of those years we actually get to enjoy.
If you're performing well on the outside but no longer recovering on the inside, I offer confidential 20-minute discovery calls. They're a starting point, not a commitment.

Which matters more to you: living longer, or feeling well for the years you have?
