This week, AirEvac 7 was invited to help our friends at San Carlos EMS with completing some of their skills trainings related to airway and resuscitation!

While we wished we could’ve gotten some better photos, San Carlos EMS and AirEvac 7 swiftly responded to a call in their first due and put training into practice.

Our crews greatly enjoy the time we have to teach, bond, and socialize with our colleagues on the ground, and always look forward to helping out whenever we can!

Thanks for having us out, San Carlos EMS!

Mountain weather can sometimes throw curveballs and lend its own challenges, but it always makes for an incredible view! Pilots Lando and Scott captured some amazing shots of our aircraft enjoying the cooler temps and cloudy skies we’ve had these past few days!

In light of September being Brain Aneurysm Awareness Month, we want to provide some basic education on stroke. Specifically, this post aims to identify common considerations our crew make in the moment, while also aiming to identify what a cerebral aneurysm is, and some specific characteristics of it.

Though there are many considerations, specific diagnoses, complications, and a whole number of treatments that are patient specific, it is absolutely imperative to neurologic outcomes to understand the basics.

Want to learn more about stroke, provide education to your agency about stroke management, learn more about the capabilities of air medical transport, or setup another training for your agency? Contact AirEvac 7 and we would be happy to help educate and coach!

Sometimes, the best service we can provide a patient is speed. Speed from scene to a facility capable of evaluation by a physician/specialist, crucial imaging studies, procedures, and/or operative intervention can dramatically improve survival and quality of life outcome measures in certain conditions.

Time-sensitive emergencies such as strokes, heart attacks, traumas, or major surgical emergencies make up a large percentage of calls our crews run. Photos here show two of our crews transporting to the same pad twice in one day!

Being equipped to provide high-level prehospital care with tools such as warmed blood, high-level mechanical ventilation, and titratable infusions allow our crews to quickly get someone where they need to be, all while receiving the highest level of care before they get there.

Today we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders who ran toward danger to help others.

As members of the emergency medical community, we are reminded of the courage, service, and selflessness demonstrated that day and in the days and years that have followed since.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Skills training is a crucial part of our clinicians’ out of service and/or downtime training! Being capable and knowledgeable about our tools enables us to deliver the most appropriate care at the most appropriate time.

🩺

A big skill we hone in on is airway management:
Non-invasive airway manipulation
Preparation for airway management
Identifying and managing abnormalities in the process
Initiating mechanical ventilation in the field

🚑

Practicing all these steps with differences in size, tools, patient position and location greatly aid our treatment and management of patients. Practicing with mannequins makes a big difference in finding your groove, taking the steps and safely completing a procedure involving the airway.

🐝

No matter how experienced, everyone at AE7 practices their airway management everyday!

AirEvac 7 had the honor to participate in the services for San Carlos Apache Wildland Firefighter Randy Lupe, who tragically passed while supporting a wildfire operation outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico, in August 2026.

Randy served with the San Carlos Wildland Firefighters for nearly 30 fire seasons, with his efforts responsible for dozens of fires, providing training and knowledge for generations of San Carlos Wildland Firefighters, and many stories.

Our crew at AirEvac 7 extends our condolences and thoughts to Mr. Lupe’s family, our first-responder partners in San Carlos, and the San Carlos Apache Tribe as this loss is processed.

August was good to AirEvac 7! Flew a lot of miles, went far and wide, but most importantly, safely transported and cared for those who needed us!

Some highlights:

1. Ending August with a sunset call!
2. Helping our patients where they need us, thanks to help from our friends on the ground!
3. Some incredible monsoon-season sunsets!
4. A friend coming to visit!
5. Nighttime flights with shooting stars way up in space to make the flight home enjoyable!
