A new book from Teresa Descilo, MSW, MCT

After more than thirty years of trauma-resolution work, Teresa has brought together the story, lessons, research, challenges, and human experiences behind that work in her new book:

Trauma Doesn’t Get the Rest of Your Life

Part memoir, part history, and part reflection on what trauma work has taught us about healing, systems, resilience, and human beings, the book tells the story of the Trauma Resolution Center and the evolution of an approach grounded in one central belief:

People can do more than learn to live with trauma. They can heal from its effects and reclaim their lives.

The Kindle edition is available now on Amazon, with the paperback coming shortly.

Just gotta be me!

After a long time building this work, I'm opening individual sessions for one struggle in particular.

The wish for connection is still there, and it can feel strong. But when someone actually gets close, something in you moves to protect you, and the fear takes over.

This is usually when people start blaming themselves. They wonder if the wish is gone, or if something in them is broken that works fine for everyone else. When the panic hits, it feels like proof that they're right.

But fear doesn't mean the wish is gone. Both are there at once. The wish is about now, while the fear comes from something earlier. Your body learned to tie closeness to old harm, so that protective response can fire even when your mind knows you're safe.

You don't have to push through it or feel ashamed of it. As your body works through that old harm, the fear starts to ease too.

If this is something you've been carrying quietly, DM DEEPER and I'll send you the link to apply for Individual Trauma Resolution Facilitation, so your body can stop reacting to closeness with fear.

Why is it so hard to let go of someone who hurt you?

Many people think it means they were weak or naive.

Often the real reason is something called a trauma bond.

Trauma bonds form when cycles of affection, stress, hope, and disappointment create a powerful attachment in the nervous system. Even when your mind knows the relationship was harmful, the bond can keep pulling you back.

I’ve created a short, guided program that helps people:

• understand trauma bonding
• restore clarity about what happened
• reconnect with their own strength
• begin loosening the emotional attachment

The program can be done privately in about 45–60 minutes.

For a limited time it is available for $20.
