They told us to be nice, agreeable, less ambitious, and never too emotional.
But as a woman and a doctor, I’ve learned something important: you don’t have to make yourself smaller to make others comfortable. 💛
In medicine, we’re taught to listen, care, and put others first. And while compassion is at the heart of what I do, I’ve also learned that setting boundaries, speaking up, trusting my knowledge, and owning my accomplishments are just as important.
You can be kind and still say no.
You can be empathetic and still be assertive.
You can be feminine and ambitious.
You can care deeply without sacrificing yourself.
Being a good doctor doesn’t mean forgetting the woman behind the white coat. 🩺✨
A little reminder to every woman working hard to become who she wants to be: never apologise for taking up space.
