Ayn Rand wrote Anthem in 1937.
It was fiction. Today, it reads like journalism.

In the book, the word “I” is forbidden.
Only “we” exists.
Independent thought is a crime.
Being exceptional is a threat.
And those who dare to stand out… are silenced.

Sound extreme?
Ask the 80% of college students who admit to self-censoring.
Or the 84% who say they’re uncomfortable expressing their views in class (College Pulse, 2022).

The story’s protagonist, Equality 7-2521, was curious.
Smart. Capable.
And for that, he was sentenced to sweep streets.
Not because he wasn’t good enough—
but because thinking too much put the system at risk.

The Council didn’t want inventors.
It wanted obedience.

Still, he dared to create.
He rediscovered electricity. Built a light.
And what did he get in return?
Rejection.
Because he worked alone.
Because he didn’t ask for permission.
Because he challenged… the Department of Candles.

Rand wasn’t writing about tech.
She was writing about control—
About a system that rewards silence and punishes talent.
Where fear suffocates truth, and the group always outweighs the individual.

If that sounds like your college experience,
you’re not imagining it—
and you’re not alone.

That’s why we created the College Survival Kit —
a free, practical guide for students who refuse to surrender to conformity.

It’s 8 emails packed with real tools, strong arguments, and inspiring stories from people who’ve lived through it.

Because in a world where “we” is forced upon you…
remembering the value of “I” is an act of courage.

I’m in the final stages of publishing case studies from my practice as a follow up to a book about the Monastery of Herbs, written 40 years ago by a medical doctor. If you would like to have an input about your experience please email me at [email protected] and I’ll put your story into it by using only your initials and city. Thank you ☺️

Data manipulation--herbs are thousands of years old; every vegetable you eat is technically an herb. Different foods provide different nutrients, so a varied diet is best.

Well written history or the philosophy behind the creation of the USA. “…condemned the tendency to look backward as a product of the combination of church and state. Men should look to the future.” “religion was often used by others for foul ends: as a cunning government uses religion to cheat a nation, a cunning man will use it to cheat his neighbor.”

Reading the 2025 Intention Almanac and discovered this healthy recipe for plants we still consider weeds. Wish my parents knew this growing up as they had me pull many dandelions out when be brought up by them.
