Having questions or issues with your health insurance coverage? Vermont Department of Financial Regulation can help!

Vermont Department of Financial Regulation protects Vermonters by making sure insurance companies follow the law. That includes laws like the Vermont Access to Birth Control Act, and laws requiring plans to cover preventive services and telehealth at low or no cost.

DFR’s investigation led to insurers repaying $1.5m to 9,000 Vermonters who were charged incorrectly for contraceptive care.

Note: Coverage depends on your specific health plan. Some employer plans may be exempt from Vermont law.

Studies show that girls are 2 to 8 times more likely to injure their knee ACL compared to boys. An ACL assessment performed by a physical therapist can help avoid injury, giving girls a program they can do at home to strengthen and protect themselves better.

A long night. A frightening turn. A nurse who stayed calm.

Congratulations to Jennifer Day, RN, a DAISY Award honoree at Porter. A family nominated Jenny for the way she coached them through labor, then acted quickly and steadily when care suddenly changed.

“I knew we were in good hands throughout.”

Thank you, Jenny!

Vermont Department of Financial Regulation protects Vermonters by making sure insurance companies follow the law including the Vermont Access to Birth Control Act. We’re partnering with Vermont Department of Financial Regulation to spread the word that this law requires state-regulated health plans to cover birth control and related care at no cost.

Talking to your health care provider about birth control options, getting a 12-month supply of birth control, IUD placements or other procedures, and follow-up visits – your plan may cover all of these services at no cost to you*!

In Vermont, pharmacists can prescribe certain birth control methods, depending on your plan.

If you are denied coverage or charged out-of-pocket for contraceptive care, you have the right to file a complaint or appeal.

*Note: Coverage depends on your specific health plan. Some employer plans may be exempt from Vermont law.
