For more than 10 years, KBS has been a valued employment partner, with a team that includes 15 individuals supported by Access.

Their commitment shows in the way they work alongside employees and our Supported Employment Specialists, keeping communication open and providing support that helps individuals succeed throughout their employment.

As part of October’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Gregg Knowles, Laura Jones, and Michael Gordon from our Employment Services team presented KBS supervisor Yubany Villa with their certificate of recognition from Hudson Valley Service Providers, LLC.

Yesterday, we had the privilege of celebrating Dan Hulse who is retiring from the Board of Directors of Access: Supports for Living after an incredible 42 years of dedicated service.

Throughout more than four decades, Dan has been a steady and trusted voice in our organization’s leadership, including serving as Board Chair. Perhaps nowhere has his passion and commitment been more evident than in his steadfast leadership and advocacy for Access Business Solutions, which has created meaningful employment opportunities for thousands of people with disabilities.

Dan has long understood that employment is about far more than a paycheck. It’s about independence, dignity, opportunity, and belonging. His leadership has helped make those possibilities a reality for so many.

We also owe a special debt of gratitude to Dan’s family, who have so generously shared his time, talents, and commitment with us for more than four decades. That kind of dedication is only possible with the support of those closest to him.

While Dan is stepping away from active Board service, we are delighted that he will continue to be part of the Access family in Emeritus status. His wisdom, institutional knowledge, and unwavering belief in our mission will always be valued.

Thank you, Dan, for 42 remarkable years of leadership, friendship, and service. Your legacy will continue through the thousands of lives you’ve helped change and the organization you’ve helped build.

There were smiles, tiny caps and gowns, and more than a few happy tears as three families graduated from Healthy Families Orange County.

Over more than three years, each family built confidence, learned more about their children’s needs and found routines that worked for them. For parents just beginning the program with newborns in their arms, seeing how far these families had come offered a reassuring glimpse of what time and support can bring.

Healthy Families offers free, voluntary support at home for expectant parents and parents of newborns in Orange County.

Team members from Access: Supports for Living attended the National Disability Employment Awareness Month Employer Recognition Summit to recognize employers and the talents individuals with disabilities bring to the workplace.

Thank you to Andy Sink for joining us as keynote speaker. As New York State’s Employment First Director, he brings employers, service providers and state agencies together to expand employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

It’s a commitment we share through our employment programs and Access: Center of Excellence: creating paths to meaningful work built around each individual’s strengths and goals.

As founder of Stockade Strategies, Dan brings together public service, economic development, and a deep commitment to the region. His service on the Ulster County Community Services Board reflects that same dedication, advocating for accessible mental health and substance use support for local residents.

For 50 years, HONOR has offered housing, hope, and a path forward to individuals and families facing homelessness and hardship across the Hudson Valley.

Through emergency shelters, permanent supportive housing, a food pantry, and support for youth experiencing homelessness, HONOR meets each person with compassion, respect, and dignity.
