We often recognize when our calendar is full, but how often do we notice when our energy is running low?

Sometimes we're so accustomed to pushing through that we overlook the signals our bodies are sending.

This week, try noticing the difference between what needs to be done and what truly needs to be done today.

Not everything requires your immediate attention.

A little breathing room can be a beautiful reset.

Fall has been full to overflowing, both personally and professionally.

This past week included three separate events, wonderful connections, a lot of meaningful activity and Continuing Ed.

Meanwhile, life at home has been equally busy as we prepare for a remodeling project that begins Monday.

I’ve been working on a blog about how stress becomes our normal pattern. Ironically, as I sat down to finish it, I realized something.

I’m out of gas.

I could push through and get it done. I’ve certainly done that plenty of times in my life.

But one of the things I teach is the importance of recognizing when our bodies need recovery rather than another demand.

So this week, I’m giving myself some breathing room. No new blog today.

The blog will be there next week, and so will I.

One of the things I love about my work is that there’s always something new to explore!

Today, I’m beginning the first of three webinars with Geraldine Villanueva Geraldine Villeneuve, exploring Structural Reflexology.

This approach looks more closely at the relationship between the structure of the feet, how they function, and their connection to the rest of the body.

As a reflexologist, I’m always interested in deepening my understanding of the feet and exploring different ways to support comfort, movement, and overall well-being.

Even after years in nursing, wellness education, and reflexology, I still get excited about learning something new!

The more I learn, the more I realize how much there is still to discover.

Three events this week, and somehow I didn’t take a single photo! 🤦‍♀️

Tuesday brought Tai Chi after a senior luncheon. Yesterday was self-reflexology for stress and pain Caledonia Resource Center, followed by our virtual Living with Chronic Pain workshop last night.

Different groups, different conversations, with a common thread: learning practical ways to support ourselves in daily life.

Teaching is one of my favorite parts of this work. I appreciate every person who made time to join us this week.

Today, I’m heading into a full day of reflexology at Pain Alternatives. Sipping my coffee on the foggy drive, grateful for the connections this week has brought.

Living with a chronic condition can mean a lot of appointments, decisions, and waiting for answers.

Reflexology offers a chance to pause and rest while you continue integrated care.

Choosing that time for stress care can be one way to take an active role in your well-being.

I’ve been very task focused lately. There’s been a lot to prepare, and I’ve caught myself measuring my days by how much I crossed off the list.

Today I’m trying to notice a little more than that. A good conversation. Something beautiful on the short drive home. A few minutes when I could take a breath and just be where I was.

Those moments count, too. What was one good moment in your day?

When your health feels uncertain, it’s easy for your attention to stay on what you don’t know.

Today, and the rest of this week, pause and ask: “What’s within my influence today?”

Perhaps it’s writing down a question for your provider, choosing movement that feels comfortable, or taking a few moments to breathe.

You don’t need to figure everything out to take one supportive step.
