⏰🍂 WYOMING — IT’S TIME TO FALL BACK! 🍂⏰

Winter is knocking, Wyoming! ❄️ Don’t forget that Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday, November 1, 2026!

At 2:00 AM Sunday morning, our clocks will fall back one hour to 1:00 AM, meaning we get an extra hour of sleep! 😴

🕰️ WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
✅ Set your clocks BACK one hour before going to bed Saturday night.
✅ Check your microwave, oven, vehicle, wall clocks, and other devices that may not update automatically.
✅ Your smartphone and most internet-connected devices should update automatically.
✅ Test your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors while you’re checking those clocks!

🚒 A LITTLE SAFETY REMINDER FROM SALT CREEK EMERGENCY SERVICES:

With shorter days and darkness arriving earlier, remember to turn on your headlights, watch for pedestrians and wildlife, and give yourself extra time when traveling on Wyoming roads.

As we head into winter, now is a great time to check your emergency supplies, prepare your vehicle for cold weather, and make sure your family is ready for whatever Wyoming throws our way!

🍂 FALL BACK, STAY SAFE, AND GET READY FOR WINTER! ❄️

Don't Forget Your Animals

🐴🐄 Wyoming winters are tough on our four-legged family members, too!
Before the next storm hits:
Ensure livestock have wind protection and dry shelter.
Check water sources frequently for freezing.
Provide adequate feed and forage.
Make sure pets have a warm, protected place indoors.
Keep emergency feed and animal supplies accessible.
Check animals more frequently during extreme weather.
If it's too cold and dangerous for you to stay outside for long, your animals may need extra attention, too!

Prevent Slips, Trips & Falls

🧊 Wyoming ice has a way of showing up where you least expect it!
Help prevent winter falls:
Clear snow and ice from steps and walkways.
Use ice melt or sand for traction.
Wear footwear with good traction.
Take short, careful steps on slippery surfaces.
Use handrails whenever possible.
Check on elderly neighbors and anyone who may need help clearing their walkways.
A little prevention today can help keep someone out of the emergency room tomorrow!

Heating & Carbon Monoxide Safety

🔥 When temperatures drop, heating equipment works overtime. Make sure your home stays warm AND safe!
Keep space heaters at least 3 feet from anything that can burn.
Plug space heaters directly into a wall outlet.
Never leave portable heaters unattended.
Keep generators outdoors, far from doors, windows and vents.
Install and test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
Never use an oven or grill to heat your home.
Carbon monoxide is odorless and potentially deadly. If your CO alarm sounds, get outside immediately and call 911 from a safe location.

🚨🇺🇸 NATIONAL FIRST RESPONDERS DAY 🇺🇸🚨

Today, we honor the brave men and women who answer the call when others need help most. ❤️💙

From firefighters and EMS personnel to law enforcement, dispatchers, and rescue crews, these dedicated individuals sacrifice their time, comfort, and sometimes their own safety to protect our communities.

At Salt Creek Emergency Services, we’re proud to serve our community as a 100% volunteer department. Our members leave their families, their jobs, and the comfort of home at all hours of the day and night to answer the call. 🚒🚑

Behind every siren is a person who chose to serve. Behind every response is a family who waits for them to return home.

Today, and every day, we thank all first responders for their courage, dedication, and commitment to serving others.

To our fellow first responders near and far: thank you for what you do, the sacrifices you make, and the lives you touch. Stay safe out there. ❤️

🇺🇸 Honoring those who run toward the emergencies others run away from.

Seal drafts around plumbing openings.
Know where your main water shutoff is located.
During extreme cold, follow local plumbing guidance for protecting vulnerable pipes.
If a pipe freezes, never use an open flame to thaw it.
