The power of a playlist. 🎶 ✝️
I woke up this morning, anxious with a deep yearning for stability. I knew instantly that I needed to put my walking shoes on and get on the treadmill with Jesus. I turned on Barn 45, which happened to be live on YouTube at 9:15am… the message was Psalm 119, and as I walked/ran, it became soul food.
Stability I could never find in human form… Only Jesus.
I committed to subbing Yin Yoga at Method Barre at 11am so I put on a shirt that a friend gave me with the message:
Thessalonians 5:11 : “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
I selected an Instrumental Christian playlist and I said “OK Holy Spirit do your thing.”👇🏻
Why am I sharing this? Because what happened, simply by playing this playlist, and giving my day to God, was permission for every person in that room to receive the Holy Spirit. It was not religious, I didn’t read the bible, I didn’t even mention scripture… I simply EMBODIED Christ.
The attendees had tears streaming down their faces, they were releasing, humming along to “goodness of god”, palms to the sky, open to receiving, filled with joy and sorrow and all that He promises in the hardest seasons of our lives. 🙏
At the end I walked over to one of the women and asked if I could pray with her. She said “yes please.” And then one by one the other attendees joined the circle. Prayers and amens and surrender … only the kind God can provide.
You see, that’s the thing about the Holy Spirit… God is so good and so gracious that when we are OPEN to His gifts, His sweet love pours over us.
I’ve been so focused on obedience this decade of my life, and I think what He’s telling me now is: surrender is an act of obedience. Trusting that the net will appear when we leap, hand-in-hand with the most high. 🙏 Less doing, more abiding.
Where has He been nudging you?
Does that feel scary?
It does to me too!!
Can Faith and fear co-exist? Which one are you giving power to?
If you’ve made it this far reading, I hope you feel encouraged today to get quiet with God and ask Him to guide you. He leads us to the most beautiful places. ❤️
