“This is just what perimenopause does.” 🙄

If you’ve heard that while your body was changing in ways you didn’t recognize, this one’s for you.

The changes are real. Estrogen swings and then declines, and it was quietly supporting your muscle, your bones, where your body stores fat, and your sleep. So yes, things shift.

But “just” leaves out the most important part: your muscle and bone still respond to load. At 45, at 55, at 75.

Strength training may help you keep and build muscle, give your bones a reason to stay strong, and help your body handle blood sugar. Cardio is great, so keep it. It just can’t do this job on its own.

And don’t skip the other half. You don’t get stronger during the workout. You get stronger after it, through sleep, protein, rest days and less stress. That’s what The Recovery Lab is for.

You may not recognize your body right now. You can still build one you trust.

Stronger. Confident. For life. 💪

Labor and delivery prep, filmed horror movie GoPro style.

Shaky camera. Wires everywhere. Someone narrating while the monster is somewhere behind you. The monster here is a pelvic floor that will not let go. The screen is the same biofeedback from earlier in the week. We ran the positions with it on. Side lying and hands and knees let this pelvic floor relax. The squat everyone swears by did not.

Your position is yours. Find it before the day you need it, not during.

Your prolapse grade is not a verdict. 🚪

Here's the easiest way to think about it: picture a garage door. The doorway is the vaginal opening, and your grade tells you how far the door has come down into it. Grade 1, it's dropped a little. Grade 4, it's all the way down.

But that's all your grade tells you. Position.

It doesn't tell you how loud the door is, whether it sticks, or whether it bothers you at all. Some people with a higher grade feel completely fine. Some people with a lower grade feel heaviness, pressure, or leaking every single day.

And the door moves. Your grade can look different lying down vs. standing, in the morning vs. after a long day on your feet, and depending on how hard you were bearing down during your exam. It's a snapshot, not a sentence.

That's why your plan should be built around your symptoms and your goals, not a number on a chart. What you feel, when you feel it, and what you want to get back to doing.

Swipe through, then save this for your next appointment so you have the right questions ready. 🔖

Your pelvic floor should not be frozen on delivery day.

A floor that grips all day looks strong. It is not. It is stuck, and stuck is the last thing you want when your baby needs room to come through. That little screen is biofeedback. It reads your pelvic floor in real time, so you can watch it squeeze and then watch it let go. Most of us can squeeze on command. Far fewer can let go on command.

Singing is optional but encouraged.

Three days post-marathon and my legs feel pretty good. My pelvic floor tells a different story.

The pelvic floor works with every single stride, managing impact and pressure for hours on end. Like any muscle group under that kind of repetitive load, it fatigues, and that fatigue can linger well after the soreness elsewhere fades.

Here’s the tricky part: you usually can’t feel it. Pelvic floor fatigue is often silent until it shows up as leaking during a run, a sense of heaviness, or trouble fully relaxing those muscles.

That’s where biofeedback comes in. Surface EMG gives us a live picture of how the pelvic floor is contracting, holding, and letting go. Instead of guessing, we can measure endurance, spot fatigue patterns, and build a training plan around what your muscles are actually doing.

If you’re a runner, your recovery plan should include your pelvic floor. 💪

Leak when you sneeze, laugh or lift? The usual advice is "just do more Kegels." Sometimes that's exactly right. Sometimes it's exactly wrong.

Leaking can come from two opposite problems:

A weak floor can't squeeze hard or fast enough when pressure hits. It needs to get stronger.

A floor that won't let go is clenched all day. It's tired, and it has no room left to squeeze. More Kegels add more tension, and the leaking often gets worse.

Swipe through for the signs of each, and the plan that fits.

Not sure which one sounds like you? Many people have a bit of both. That's what a pelvic floor assessment is for. Send us a DM or tap the link in our bio to book.

Save this for your next sneeze, and share it with someone who's been told to "just do Kegels."

You were "cleared" at 6 weeks. So why are you still leaking, hurting, or scared to pick up your toddler? 🤔

Here's the thing: the guidelines changed years ago. ACOG now calls postpartum care an ongoing process, with contact within the first 3 weeks and a comprehensive visit by 12 weeks. Not one quick check and a thumbs up.

Most moms never hear that. So we're saying it louder. 📣

Swipe through for the 10 things I would NEVER do with a postpartum client as a board-certified PT 👉

Here's what you get instead at Revolution Wellness:
✔️ A full-length, one-on-one evaluation
✔️ A real pelvic floor assessment (always with your consent)
✔️ A plan built for YOUR life, car seats and all
✔️ Someone in your corner way past week 6

Common isn't normal, and you deserve more than "you're fine, see you next baby." 💛

📲 Book your postpartum evaluation through the link in our bio. No referral needed.
