5-Star Care. Personalized. Evidence-informed.

Shingles. Sports injuries. Concussion recovery. Sciatica. Endometriosis. Migraines.

Acupuncture can be used for so much more than people realize.

This week, I had a conversation with an oncology nurse about a patient who had been relying on steroid injections for pain and ultimately needed a joint replacement.

It got us talking about something I think about all the time:

What if we treated pain differently before the problem became bigger?

Sometimes the cheapest option in the short term isn’t the most conservative option in the long term.

Acupuncture offers a drug-free approach to pain management that doesn’t carry the risks of opioid dependence and can be incorporated alongside conventional medical care.

And yes—sometimes what I do looks like dry needling.

But that’s only a small piece of what I was trained to do as a Doctor of Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine.

My goal isn’t simply to make a symptom disappear.

It’s to understand why you’re hurting, what your body needs, and how we can help you feel better without unnecessarily adding more to the problem.

Try acupuncture. See what it can do for you.

In the first five minutes after the insertion of an Acupuncture needle into a prescribed point:
- A-delta and C nerve fibers are stimulated
- Your brain receives a signal that something intentional is happening
- Your nervous system begins to shift from “fight or flight” to “rest and digest”
- Cortisol starts to drop
That’s Acupuncture. It works.

Are You Sleeping Wrong? Your Back is Telling You.

If you wake up with a stiff neck, sore back, tight shoulders, or an arm that has mysteriously gone numb, your sleep posture may be part of the problem.

Proper sleep posture keeps your head, neck, spine, and hips comfortably aligned so your muscles can actually relax while you sleep. The right pillow, support under your knees, or a gradual switch from stomach sleeping to your back or side can make a surprising difference.

Think of it as adult sleep training—teaching your body a better way to rest.

And if years of questionable sleep positions have already left your neck and back unhappy, acupuncture may help. At Retreatment Wellness in Millcreek, acupuncture treatments can address muscular tension and pain while also promoting relaxation and supporting better sleep.

Better posture + acupuncture + deeper rest = a much happier morning.
