In Loving Memory of C.C. 💜

It is with heavy hearts that we at Royally Fit acknowledge the passing of C.C., one of our very first contractors, Royal T.E.A. Cohort Alumni and a truly special part of our community.

C.C. was an incredible person whose drive, ambition, confidence and vibrant energy left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. As a Zumba instructor, she brought so much more than movement to our programs. She brought joy, encouragement and a spirit that made people feel her presence. She was supportive, passionate and unapologetically herself. I will always admire the confidence she carried and the way she showed up for the work and the people around her. Her beautiful smile and infectious energy will be deeply missed!

As we grieve this tremendous loss, we are holding her family, friends, loved ones and the many members of the community whose lives she touched close in our hearts. We recognize that grief looks different for everyone and we encourage one another to lead with compassion, offer care without expectation, respect each other’s need for space and allow room for healing in whatever form it takes.

May those who loved C.C. be surrounded by tenderness, support and the freedom to grieve in their own time and in their own way. May the impact she made, the joy she shared and the memories she leaves behind continue to live on through the people she touched.

Thank you, C.C., for being part of the Royally Fit family and for sharing your gifts, your ambition and your beautiful spirit with us. You will not be forgotten.

What if that “weed” in your yard was actually one of the plants people have been using for food and traditional herbal practices for generations?

Meet dandelion — Taraxacum officinale.

One of the fascinating things about dandelion is that herbalists don’t just look at the flower.

Different parts of the same plant can have different properties, uses and preparations.

Dandelion has a long history of culinary and traditional medicinal use and today researchers are still studying its compounds and potential effects. But learning herbalism means going beyond a list of “benefits.”

We learn the WHOLE plant.

How do you prepare it?
When should you NOT use it?

That’s the difference between knowing about herbs and learning herbalism.

There’s something I wish more people understood about herbalism.

Herbalism isn’t simply knowing which herb to drink when you have a headache.

It isn’t memorizing a list of herbs and what they’re “good for.”

And it definitely isn’t about replacing every aspect of modern healthcare with a jar of dried leaves.

Herbalism is a relationship.

It is learning to pay attention.

To the plant.

To the person.

To the season.

To the preparation.

To the dose.

To the individual circumstances surrounding the person you’re working with.

The more I learn about herbalism, the more I realize how much there is to learn.

A good herbalist doesn’t just ask, “What herb should I use?”

They ask better questions.

What is actually happening?

What else is going on?

How long has this been happening?

What medications or supplements is this person taking?

What is their nutrition like?

What is their environment like?

What does their body seem to be communicating?

And perhaps most importantly:

Is this something that is appropriate for herbal support
…or is this something that needs a different level of care?

That discernment matters.

Herbalism has a rich history of traditional knowledge, cultural wisdom, observation, experimentation and relationship with the natural world.

But learning herbalism responsibly also means understanding safety, contraindications, preparation methods, quality, dosage, interactions and the limitations of what herbs can do!

For me, that’s part of what makes herbalism so beautiful.

It isn’t about having all the answers.

It’s about becoming a better observer.

A better student.

A more thoughtful steward of plants and people.

And honestly, I think we could all benefit from slowing down enough to notice what the natural world has been teaching us all along.

There are moments in life when we don’t realize how much we needed something until we’re in the middle of it.

This was one of those moments.

What you see in this photo isn’t just a group of women sitting in a circle.

You see women who arrived carrying stress, grief, responsibilities, questions and the weight of caring for everyone else.

By the end of the afternoon, they weren’t strangers anymore.

They were reminding one another that healing doesn’t have to happen alone.

That is the power of sisterhood.

That is the power of creating space to simply be seen, heard and supported.

If you’ve been watching our posts and thinking, “I wish I could go,” I want to encourage you to stop waiting for the perfect time.

Your mental health deserves a place on your calendar.

Your healing deserves your yes.

What if your greatest act of productivity this week… was choosing to rest?

As women, we’re often praised for how much we can carry.

We pour into our families, our careers, our communities and everyone who depends on us. Somewhere along the way, we convince ourselves that our own well-being can wait.

But mental wellness isn’t something we earn after everything else is finished.

It’s something we choose.

This Wellness Wednesday, I want to ask you one simple question…

When was the last time you intentionally poured into yourself?

Not while folding laundry.
Not while answering emails.
Not while multitasking.

Just… for you.

This Sunday, women from across our community will gather at Tranquili-tea in the peaceful Japanese Garden for an afternoon of herbal tea, meaningful conversations, guided mindfulness, reflection and healing.

There won’t be pressure to perform or pretend…just permission to breathe, reconnect and remember that you matter, too!

Looking back at these moments reminds me why we continue creating these spaces.

Every woman who attended arrived carrying her own story. Every woman left knowing she wasn’t carrying it alone.
