Today was truly an honor!

I had the opportunity to speak with students in UW-Milwaukee’s Success Through Aging Research (STAR) Program, and honestly, this is something I never imagined myself doing.

It was such a great experience being in a room with students who are passionate about working with the aging population and preparing to go out into the world and make a difference.

But what meant the most to me was being able to share a different perspective. Yes, our aging population is important, but the people caring for them are just as important, too! And we have to make sure we’re having those conversations as we prepare the next generation of professionals.

What makes this even more special is that the connection came through our very own Alana who started with us through UWM as an intern and has since become an official part of the Legacy team as our Program and Operations Coordinator.

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share my story, talk about the work we’re doing at Legacy, and hopefully leave these students with a little something to carry with them as they begin their careers.

Sometimes I really sit back and think about how far this journey has taken me. Never would I have imagined being in rooms like this, sharing my experiences and advocating for caregivers in this way. ❤️
