The Word on Medicine
“The Word on Medicine” Radio Program airs every Saturday at 4:00 p.m. on 1130 WISN and highlights innovation and discovery across MCW.
Since October of 2017, we have recorded over 140 unique programs involving over 600 faculty, countless nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and many distinguished invited guests. Most importantly, we have brought to you the personal experiences of our patients and their families. This direct look into the arena of medical care is unmatched, and we are so excited about the programs on tap for this year – do not change the dial on your radio!
We have a great show for you today which will provide all of the answers you have come to expect from The Word on Medicine. Today's program is on GERD: Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, also known as acid reflux, is an incredibly common condition that affects 1 in 5 people across the United States. Our medical experts, Drs. Jon Gould, Andrew Kastenmeier and Patrick Sanvanson are joined by a patient to discuss the signs and symptoms, diagnosis, medical and surgical therapies of GERD.
If you missed a program, fear not: they all exist as podcasts. Please visit our website at mcw.edu/surgery, or simply go to iHeartRadio, iTunes, Podbean, Stitcher and now Spotify and look for "The Word on Medicine" channel.

In case you missed it: Click here for our replay of last week's program on Autism Spectrum Disorder – a diagnosis which is more common than you would think and poorly understood. Our medical experts were joined by three very generous parents who shared their personal stories of how autism was diagnosed in their children and how this has changed their lives. This is one of the most important programs produced by The Word on Medicine – you will want to listen to this show.
