It’s Spina Bifida Awareness Month! šŸ’™ This year, we’re shining a spotlight on an organization that is making a meaningful difference in the lives of people with spina bifida: .

Through research, advocacy, education, and community support, the Spina Bifida Association works to help people with spina bifida live longer, healthier lives. They are dedicated to advancing research, shaping public policy on issues that matter to the spina bifida community, educating individuals, families, and healthcare professionals, and providing valuable resources and support.

Looking for a fun way to get involved? Consider joining a local Walk-N-Roll event and helping raise awareness while supporting the community.

Stay tuned for next week’s post, where we’ll share practical catheter tips and insights for individuals living with continence challenges and the families who support them.

Think your hands are clean? These common mistakes could be undoing all your hard work.

For people who use intermittent catheters, good hand hygiene is an essential part of reducing UTI risk.

Here are some easy-to-miss mistakes to avoid:
• Touching your face after washing your hands
• Using cleaning wipes instead of disinfecting wipes on high-touch surfaces
• Drying your hands with a used towel
• Forgetting to clean hand controls and assistive devices
• Skipping the cleaning of your phone during your cleaning routine

🧼 Remember: Soap and water remain one of the most effective ways to remove germs from your hands.

September is Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month! šŸ’™

About 302,000 people in the U.S. are living with SCI*, and this month we're highlighting incredible organizations that support the SCI community.

United Spinal Association connects people with the equipment, care, information, and advocacy they need while helping create a more accessible world.

Triumph Foundation empowers children, adults, and veterans with SCI to overcome obstacles, build independence, and thrive. Their work throughout Southern California continues to inspire and support the community.

Give these organizations a follow and learn more about the important work they're doing for people living with SCI.

The Adventure of a Lifetime: Lessons from Cycling Across Europe After Ostomy Surgery, a new blog post by Axel Keller.

"If this journey has taught me anything, it’s that an ostomy doesn’t have to make your world smaller. It may change the way you prepare, the things you pack, or the routines you build, but it doesn’t have to change your dreams. Six months ago, I was recovering from surgery. Today, I’m writing this from a campsite in Denmark." -with Coloplast
