School started today. The spark of spontaneous Summer days is slowly fading.
Back to routine. In all the best ways.
Nobody’s telling you to slow down (nobody ever really does).
Yet the leaves are beginning to change. The days are getting shorter. There’s an energy in the air; quietly asking you to dial it back.
And still. You can’t quite land.
You sit down, and within minutes you’re back up. There’s something to finish, something to fix, something you haven’t gotten to.
It’s not that you don’t want to rest. It’s that some part of you doesn’t know how, even when the season itself, is asking.
Here’s what I’ve come to understand. In Five Element theory, Late Summer is the season the body is meant to rest (and digest). Not just food. Everything.
Every task, every conversation, every thought you’ve been carrying since Spring.
But if the space to rest never gets used. If busyness, overthinking, everything left undone keeps accumulating. The body longer remembers what “off” feels like.
It’s not a discipline problem. It’s not that you’re bad at relaxing. It’s noise. Built up in the body, season after season, with nowhere to release.
That’s what Rest & Digest is for.
Not another thing to do. But a place to finally let what’s accumulated actually settle.
