We know you've heard about the proposed work-hour changes. Here's something that's gotten less attention, but matters just as much.

Section 4 of ACGME's proposal would remove the requirement for programs to train residents to demonstrate competency in compassion, integrity, respect for others, cultural awareness, and accountability to patients and patient safety.

Review the changes and post your comments by Oct. 22. Tell your co-residents too: https://www.emra.org/news/acgme-work-hours

What do you do when a toxicology case doesn't go the way the textbook says it should?

EMRA's Toxicology Committee is hosting Virtual Simulation Cases to put you in the middle of real-time simulation cases, working through the management of patients with a range of toxicological exposures as the case unfolds in front of you.

Want a seat at the table that shapes EM residency training nationwide?

EMRA will nominate 2 trainees for the position of Resident/Fellow Representative on the ACGME's Review Committee for Emergency Medicine.

If you're interested in academic medicine, training standards, and organizational service, this is worth your time. The role means representing your peers in matters discussed by the RC-EM, including training standards and program requirements. If selected, the resident member becomes a full voting member of the committee, participates in the ACGME Council of Review Committee Residents, and also serves as a Member at Large on the EMRA Board of Directors.

Don't miss this opportunity to shape accreditation standards and program review for EM residencies across the country. Completed nomination packet are due at midnight Oct. 23: https://www.emra.org/emra-rep-to-acgme-rc
