When comfort food calls, this recipe is the answer. 😌

First you'll brown butter; then sauté shallots, garlic, and herbs (the smell will have you drooling! 🤤); then stir in pumpkin puree and cream. Here we're serving this sage-pumpkin sauce over four-cheese tortellini, but it would be scrumptious over any pasta or gnocchi.

Hooray for pumpkin season! 🧡 Celebrate with these delicious pumpkin bars, made with locally grown Kernza flour! 🌾

In honor of Indigenous Peoples' Day, we're learning about the Indigenous roots of our store areas. The name "Chanhassen" is derived from the Dakota language word "Čhaŋhásaŋ Pahá," meaning "Sugar Maple Hills."

This area used to be abundant with these trees, which are well known for being the source of sweet maple syrup. For the Dakota and Ojibwe people, maple syrup and sugar are far more than a sweetener! This traditional staple is used to:

🍁 Preserve meats.
🍁 Sweeten bitter medicines.
🍁 Act as an anesthetic.
🍁 Trade as portable, dried sugar slabs.

Chanhassen's logo — the maple leaf — directly reflects this powerful origin story.

On this Indigenous Peoples' Day, we recognize the original stewards of the land our Chanhassen store occupies, and honor their enduring knowledge and respect for the maple tree.
