October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), a time to recognize the value, talent, and contributions people with disabilities bring to our workplaces and communities.

At Opportunity Partners, we've believed in the power of employment for more than 70 years. Founded in 1953 to create job opportunities for people with disabilities, OP has been helping people discover their strengths, build skills, and achieve their employment goals ever since. Today, our employment services support people with disabilities in finding meaningful work, growing their careers, and contributing their talents in workplaces throughout the community.

What a wonderful evening! 🍝

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Community Spaghetti Dinner. From people we support and their families to staff, volunteers, board members, and community partners, it was incredible to see so many people gathered around the same table.

A special thank you to the Hopkins High School culinary students and BLVD Executive Chef Paul Angeles for serving a delicious meal and helping create such a welcoming experience.

Everyone had a moment to shine at our recent Success Celebration! We celebrated the unique strengths, talents and achievements of people supported by Opportunity Partners—and put the spotlight right where it belongs: on them.

Honorees were recognized as Biggest Cheerleaders, Community Builders, Dance Floor Stars, Friendship Award recipients, Goal Getters, Kindness Counts champions, Rays of Sunshine and Team MVPs.

Congratulations to all the nominees! We’re proud to celebrate each person and the many ways they shine. 🌟

Last month our Engage With My Community program partnered with another Twin Cities based nonprofit, Friends of the Mississippi River, to conduct a park clean up at the Harriet Island Region Park in St. Paul. This event included a lesson on environmental stewardship, safe clean up practice, and how common pollutants can enter the local watershed. Both staff and people served got involved in cleaning up litter in the park. 🌳💚

Artist in Residence Art Show🎨

Last week we held a reception to showcase the colorful paintings, drawings, and sculptures made by the people we support. The art was created through the Artist in Residence program, made possible by generous donations from the community. More than making art for display, the program empowers individuals to express themselves, make decisions, and grow through creativity. Personal choice and self-direction allow each person to decide how and what they create. Each person brimmed with a sense of pride as they showed off their artwork to community members who attended the event.

How could you not love Carlson's Llovable Llamas? 🦙

Last Thursday was Llama Day, and the joy was impossible to miss. People from across OP came together spend time with our fuzzy llama friends. Judging by all the smiles, laughter, and excitement, it's easy to see why this has become an OP tradition!
