Meet Maureen, our new manager at Solae.

One of the things I appreciate most about Maureen is how much she cares. About our clients, our team, and the details that help everyone feel welcome. As a Dental Hygienist and medical secretary-you may recognize her! She is a mother of 2, wife and loves her family and is an amazing gardener.

As a business owner, having someone who cares about you as a person, too, means a great deal. I’ve felt that from Maureen, and I’m grateful she’s here.

This is me, shortly after emergency surgery to remove blood clots from the arteries supplying my legs.

My left leg was completely blocked. The pain was beyond anything I could describe. They had given me morphine and Dilaudid, and neither touched it.

I remember crying to the nurse, begging her to knock me out because I couldn't take another second.

And I meant it.

Right before they put me under, I didn't care whether I lived or died. I just needed the pain to stop.

I survived the surgery.

In this picture, I'm trying to text someone to let them know I made it through. But I was so exhausted that I fell asleep in the middle of typing.

My mom was there, and she took this picture.

I'm grateful she did.

Because sometimes we look back at photographs and remember things that no one else can see.

You can't see the pain I'd just endured. You can't hear me crying to the nurse. You can't know how close I'd come to not caring whether I ever opened my eyes again.

You just see a woman asleep in a hospital bed, holding her phone.

But I know what happened before that picture.

And I know what it took to get there.

**Grace & Grit. Sometimes the grace is simply that you survived.**
