ATAP Application Day is coming to AIDB Mobile Regional Center Friday November 20, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at 1050 Government Street, Mobile, Alabama 36604!

The Alabama Telecommunications Access Program, or ATAP, provides free communication devices to eligible Alabama residents with hearing loss, vision loss, age-related sensory loss, or other communication needs.

Available devices may include iPhones, iPads, amplified phones, and other assistive technology.

• Explore devices that may support greater communication access and independence

No appointment is needed.

Income eligibility:
One-person household: below $60,240
Two-person household: below $81,760
Add $21,520 for each additional household member.

Join us on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM as we step out to raise awareness, promote inclusion, and celebrate independence!

We’ll gather at the Chamber of Commerce for a commemorative program on the history of White Cane Day, followed by an awareness walk through Talladega.

The Mobile Association of the Deaf, Inc. (MAD) Harvest Festival, scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026, at the AIDB Mobile Regional Center, has been CANCELED due to weather conditions.

As Hurricane Isaiaas approaches the Gulf Coast, AIDB Mobile Regional Center encourages everyone to prepare early, stay informed, and prioritize safety.

We are sharing a two-page hurricane preparedness guide and an accompanying video in American Sign Language (ASL) to help ensure important emergency information is accessible to our Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and DeafBlind communities.

The Blindness Awareness Walk scheduled for Friday, October 9, 2026, during Mobile Art Walk has been canceled due to weather.

We appreciate everyone who planned to join us in raising blindness awareness and celebrating the strength, independence, and contributions of blind and visually impaired people in our community.

Please join us for our monthly Tech Tuesday October 13, 2026!

We will have a guest presentation from BlindShell and then our Assistive Technology Specialist will be available to assist you with your unique and individual technology needs.

Tech Tuesday is a monthly hands-on technology training for blind and visually impaired individuals of all experience levels. Participants can build confidence, independence, and digital skills while learning about cell phones, computers, ONYX, Acrobat & Ruby, CCTV, visual aid software, and other accessible technology tools. Some sessions include guest speakers to present new technology as well.

The next Tech Tuesday will be held Tuesday, October 13, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Mobile Regional Center, 1050 Government St., Mobile, AL 36604. Tech Tuesday happens every second Tuesday of the month.

Attendees can learn practical technology skills, ask questions, build confidence, and connect with others.
