I think people see how active I am and assume I’m so dialed and doing all these things… but I actually don’t 😬
5 things I DON’T do:
1. Count calories or macros
I don’t track my food or try to hit exact numbers. I tracked for a short period once just to see how much protein I was actually getting and was shocked at how many more calories I was eating than I realized haha. Now I’m more intentional about getting protein in at each meal, but otherwise I try to eat nourishing food and not overcomplicate it.
2. Work out for hours every day
Most of my workouts are 30–60 mins, and if I have extra time I love adding in a walk. Honestly, I WISH I could work out all day because I genuinely love it 😂 but you really don’t need hours a day to be active. A lot of my movement is just running, surfing, biking, hiking or being outside with my kids. It all counts.
3. Eat super clean all the time
I care about eating well and love nourishing food, but I’m definitely not perfect about it. I’m a treat-after-every-meal person 🍫I eat dessert late at night, eat out, travel, snack and do whatever is easiest sometimes. For me, healthy eating has to fit into real life.
4. Plan my workouts around nap time
I don’t wait for the house to be quiet or the kids to be asleep. A lot of the time they’re just part of it ..playing nearby, coming along, riding bikes while I run or interrupting me mid-workout 😂 It can be chaotic, but I love that they get to see movement as a normal part of life.
5. Wait for life to feel convenient
There is almost always a reason not to do it - kids, work, travel, being tired, plans changing, or the day getting away from you. When I’m feeling good I love it, and when I’m feeling crappy I usually need it even more. So I try to make movement a priority and just do what I can with the day I have.
I’m not perfectly dialed all the time by any means, I just keep coming back to it. Consistency over time matters way more than one meal, one workout or one off day.
