What is a nerve block, and how can it help with pain?

Nerves carry pain signals from your body to your brain. A nerve block is an interventional treatment that targets those pathways to help interrupt the signals.

Here's what to know:
✅ A physician places medication near a specific nerve or group of nerves, often using imaging guidance 🎯
✅ It can help treat pain by calming irritated nerves
✅ It can also help diagnose pain by showing which nerve is the source 🔍
✅ It's typically an outpatient procedure, so most patients go home the same day 🏡

Pain that keeps coming back or won't respond to other treatments?
Our team can help you explore your options.

What does "success" look like in pain care? 🎯💙

At The Center for Pain, it's not just about lowering a number on a pain scale.
Our care is built around four patient-centered goals:

1. Reduce pain levels and encourage healthy self-care
2. Restore participation in your usual life activities 🌳
3. Reduce reliance on medications 💊
4. Provide the best, most cost-effective treatment 🙌

Our physician-led team uses a multidisciplinary approach to treat pain from injury or disease, with a focus on restoring function and improving quality of life. Since 1997, that's been the heart of how we care for patients across Alabama and Georgia.

Because the real measure of relief is getting back to the life you want. 💙

Living with pain that won't go away? An evaluation is the first step.

When other treatments haven't worked, there may still be options. ⚡💙

Spinal Cord Stimulation - How It Works:
✅ A small implanted device sends mild electrical pulses to the spinal cord
✅ Those pulses help interrupt pain signals before they reach the brain 🧠
✅ Many patients first try a short trial period to see how they respond
✅ The device is adjustable and not necessarily permanent

The goal is to help you be more active and rely less on pain medication. 🙌

SCS is often considered for chronic, severe pain, especially nerve (neuropathic) pain, when other treatments haven't provided enough relief. It isn't right for everyone, so a thorough evaluation comes first.

Wondering if it could be an option for you? Our team can help you find out.
