🎉 Meet Our Staff! 🎉
This week, we're excited to introduce Tommie Landry, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, one of the experienced, part-time nurse practitioners caring for patients at Rapid Response Urgent Care!
Tommie brings over 20 years of diverse healthcare experience to our clinic, with an extensive background in emergency medicine, urgent care, and hospital-based care. Throughout his career, he has cared for patients in both rural and urban healthcare settings, managing everything from minor illnesses and injuries to critically ill patients and complex medical conditions. His experience includes working in the emergency department, serving in emergency department leadership roles, and practicing as a nurse practitioner in both urgent care and hospital settings. This broad clinical background allows him to bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and sound clinical judgment to the patients he serves.
In addition to his clinical practice, Tommie has a passion for nursing education and mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals. Tommie currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Nicholls State University, where he provides classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction to undergraduate and graduate nursing students. He currently serves as a course coordinator in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program and as clinical faculty in the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program, including the Family Nurse Practitioner track.
Tommie's commitment to nursing education has also earned him recognition from Nicholls State University, including the 2024 Academic Affairs Award for Teaching Excellence and the 2015 Apple Award for Outstanding Faculty Support for Student Activities.
Tommie earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Nicholls State University, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Nursing Education from Southeastern Louisiana University. He later returned to Nicholls State University to earn a second Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. He is also currently pursuing his PhD at Louisiana State University, further demonstrating his dedication to continued education and professional growth.
Beyond his clinical and academic responsibilities, Tommie is actively involved in advancing the nurse practitioner profession throughout Louisiana. He has been a longtime member of the Louisiana Association of Nurse Practitioners (LANP) and currently serves as a Co-Representative for the Bayou Region. He is also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
We are fortunate to have someone with Tommie's extensive clinical experience, educational background, and dedication to the nursing profession as part of our team. His combination of hands-on patient care, clinical leadership, and commitment to education makes him a valuable asset to our clinic and the community we serve.
