October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
Domestic Violence Awareness Month is a time to learn, listen, and take action. Understanding domestic violence is one way we can better support survivors and challenge the beliefs and behaviors that allow abuse to continue. Awareness is a starting point. What we do with that awareness matters. Learn more and find resources at thehotline.org.
Brain injuries are common among people who experience domestic violence, yet they are often overlooked in conversations about brain injury. This month, the Ohio Domestic Violence Network and Brain Injury Association of America are encouraging brain injury professionals to learn about the intersection of domestic violence and brain injury, how to screen survivors of domestic violence for brain injury, and the importance of using trauma-informed principles when treating people who have experienced domestic violence.
