Stevens Community Medical Center (SCMC) is a 25-bed critical access hospital, fully-integrated, healthcare delivery system located in Morris, MN. that provides a broad array of medical, surgical and mental health services. SCMC has a full-service clinic on-site and also a satellite clinic located in Starbuck, Minnesota. Among the services at SCMC they provide an Urgent Care, a behavioral medicine clinic, eye clinic, physical therapy (NovaCare Rehabilitation), infusion therapy, and many more specialty services. SCMC is also home to the Courage Cottage, a 5-bed ‘home away from home’ for specialized care. There is a discounted/sliding fee schedule available based on family size and income. SCMC thrives on patient-centered care and operates as a non-profit 501(c)(3).

💙 Why did Dr. Bloomsburg choose SCMC?

For Dr. Sam Bloomsburg, practicing medicine in a rural community isn't about providing less care. It's about making excellent care accessible CLOSE TO HOME.

After experiencing both big-city and small-town life, Dr. Bloomsburg knew that small-town life was where he wanted to be. And when he found SCMC, he saw something special.

He describes SCMC as a community of caregivers centered around providing excellent healthcare services for the people of Stevens County and the surrounding communities and quoted at saying “I think SCMC is a real jewel.”

That's something we love hearing — and we're pretty happy he found his way to Morris. 💙

Today, we’re sharing the story of Connie Johnson and her family, who found comfort in Courage Cottage during the final months of Connie’s life. For her family, there was no question that Courage Cottage was the right place for her.

This is the heart of Courage Cottage. It’s the smaller, more personal setting. It’s the caring staff who go beyond expectations. And it’s the comfort of knowing that someone you love is surrounded by people who truly care.For families, that kind of peace of mind is a gift. Knowing Connie was loved and cared for at Courage Cottage brought comfort to her family during an incredibly difficult time. 💙

Think flu’s not a big deal? Think again💉

In 1918, influenza became one of the deadliest pandemics in modern history. An estimated 500 million people were infected worldwide, with at least 50 million deaths. In the U.S., approximately 675,000 people died.

And there was no flu vaccine. The first influenza vaccine was licensed in the U.S. in 1945.
More than a century later, we have tools to help protect ourselves and our communities from influenza.

HISTORY FACT: The deadliest wave of the 1918 flu pandemic hit the U.S. in the fall — peaking during September through November.
