After a 2 am wake-up call, a couple of coffees and some airport pancakes, we are off to find all of the fall foliage, lobster rolls, cannolis, and clam chowder…

Give us all of your Boston recs!! And follow along on stories—I’ll try to update our adventures. 😊

For a healthy full-term newborn that is breastfeeding, colostrum IS enough. However, it IS NOT enough when we introduce a supplement of formula or donor milk in volumes bigger than baby’s tummy size. Then—your colostrum amount is definitely NOT enough.

There are absolutely circumstances that necessitate giving a supplement—believe me, I know! I’ve worked with moms and newborns in the hospital for a very long time. BUT, if it is not medically necessary, keep any additional supplement to your own expressed colostrum if possible.😊

You know my passion for fl**ge fitting—and it turns out? Research on dairy cows shows it’s important for their milk production as well to be comfortable 🐮 FASCINATING! Thank you BABIES IN COMMON for doing the practice changing work for the lactation world! ❤️

Bottom line: your milk supply is driven by demand from frequent stimulation of your baby and/or your pump. 🎤

There comes a time when your b***s WILL wake you up before your baby does! Those extended hours of sleep at night are amazing, but just know that over time if it continues, it is likely your supply will take a hit.

ANY way your baby gets breastmilk is a win.💕
Fresh milk, frozen milk, pumped milk, donor milk—-YES! Every drop counts.

Breastmilk is an incredible food for babies, however they receive it.

But there are some benefits of direct breastfeeding—including this unique two-way communication that simply can’t be replicated by pumping and bottle-feeding.

No guilt. No competition. Just a little Tuesday TITbit about the really cool science behind breaatfeeding… 😊🌟
