Medication isn’t always one-size-fits-all, especially for children.

A child may need a strength that isn’t commercially available, have difficulty swallowing a tablet, dislike a medication’s taste, or be sensitive to ingredients such as dyes, preservatives, lactose, or gluten.

A compounding pharmacist can work with the child’s healthcare provider to:
• Prepare a patient-specific dose based on the child’s clinical needs
• Create an easier-to-take liquid or chewable form when appropriate
• Add a more acceptable flavor to help make medication time less stressful
• Leave out certain inactive ingredients that may cause allergies or sensitivities
• Provide an alternative when a needed pediatric formulation is unavailable

Not every medication can be compounded into every form, so close collaboration among the provider, pharmacist, and caregiver is essential.

Hair thinning is rarely caused by just one factor. Genetics, hormones, nutrition, stress and underlying health conditions can all affect the scalp and hair follicles.

A compounding pharmacy can work with your healthcare provider to create a patient-specific approach that may:
• Address identified nutrient deficiencies that can contribute to shedding
• Support the production of structural proteins involved in hair strength
• Promote the nutritional environment needed for healthy follicle function
• Combine appropriate ingredients into one customized formulation
• Adjust the formulation based on laboratory results, health history and individual tolerability

If you’re concerned about hair thinning, ask your provider whether personalized nutritional or compounded support may be appropriate for you.

Cooler weather, lower humidity and indoor heating can bring more than falling leaves. For some people, fall means dry or cracked skin, eczema flare-ups, irritated nasal passages, seasonal congestion, sore throats and lingering coughs.

When a standard product isn’t the right fit, our compounding pharmacy can work with your healthcare provider to prepare patient-specific options such as:
• Customized topical preparations for dry, irritated or eczema-prone skin
• Nasal or sinus preparations for seasonal congestion and irritation
• Alcohol-free or sugar-free liquid options for cough and throat discomfort

If seasonal changes are affecting your skin or respiratory health, talk with your healthcare provider. A compounded prescription may offer a more personalized way to address your needs this fall.

What does gut health have to do with autoimmune conditions?

Research continues to explore the connection between the gut microbiome, the intestinal lining and immune-system activity. An imbalanced microbiome or compromised gut barrier may be associated with inflammation and could play a role in some autoimmune conditions.

Supporting gut health may be one part of a broader, individualized care plan, but it is not a replacement for medical treatment. If you are experiencing autoimmune symptoms, talk with your provider about appropriate testing and next steps. Our team is available to discuss customized medications or nutritional supplement support.

No fleas, but your dog is still itching? 🐶

Excessive scratching, licking or chewing can have many possible causes, including:
• Seasonal or food allergies
• Dry skin or contact irritation
• Bacterial or yeast infections
• Ear infections
• Mites, insect bites or other parasites

And even if you don’t see fleas, one bite may be enough to trigger an allergic reaction in a sensitive dog.

If the itching persists or is accompanied by redness, hair loss, odor, sores or discharge, schedule a visit with your veterinarian. Identifying the underlying cause is the first step toward finding appropriate relief.

When medication is needed, our compounding pharmacy may be able to prepare a customized dosage form that is easier to give or apply.

Weight management is rarely one-size-fits-all. Metabolism, hormones, health history and medication tolerability can vary significantly from one patient to another.

If you are working toward weight-management goals, your healthcare provider can help you evaluate what options may be appropriate based on your individual needs and health history. Our team is available to answer questions and support provider-directed care when appropriate.

New research is adding to the conversation about menopause, hormone therapy and heart health.

In a recent observational study of 2,737 women experiencing hot flashes or night sweats, starting menopausal hormone therapy was associated with an estimated 22% lower risk of cardiovascular events. The potential benefit was more pronounced among women who began therapy within 10 years of menopause onset.

However, researchers emphasized that hormone therapy should not be used specifically to prevent cardiovascular disease. The decision should be based on each woman’s symptoms, health history, and individual risks.

Talk with your healthcare provider and our compounding pharmacist about whether menopausal hormone therapy may be appropriate for you.

Perimenopause can look different for every woman, and symptoms may change over time.

Hot flashes, night sweats, disrupted sleep, mood changes, irregular periods, vaginal dryness, and changes in concentration or energy can all be part of the transition.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to care. Depending on your symptoms, health history, and individual needs, your healthcare provider may discuss lifestyle changes, nonhormonal options, FDA-approved hormone therapy, or, when appropriate, a customized compounded prescription.

Have questions about compounded hormone options? Talk with our compounding pharmacist to learn more and discuss what may be available with a prescription from your healthcare provider.

We hear this all the time: “I thought I was just stressed.”

But when your body feels constantly tired, overwhelmed, and unable to recover, it may be worth taking a closer look.
Burnout can show up physically, not just mentally, and factors such as sleep, blood sugar balance, stress, nutrition, and hormones may all play a role in how you feel.

Supporting your body may include:
- Prioritizing consistent, restorative sleep
- Keeping blood sugar balanced
- Finding realistic ways to manage stress
- Considering targeted supplementation when appropriate
- Exploring hormone testing, including cortisol and DHEA, with a qualified provider

If you’ve been pushing through fatigue and hoping it gets better on its own, you don’t have to keep guessing about what your body may be telling you. Talk with our team to learn more.
