Siskiyou Opportunity Center

Siskiyou Opportunity Center empowers adults with developmental disabilities by providing job training and skill-building opportunities. Est. 1970

Our day programs focus on community integration, daily living skills, and fostering independence. Siskiyou Opportunity Center is a non-profit organization that has been a service for adults with developmental disabilities in Siskiyou County since 1970. It is our mission to spread inclusivity while also providing access to comprehensive and integrated services that primarily focuses on community inclusion with some employment aspects to support independence. We focus on social determinants of community integration so that our clients may pursue activities that add value to their lives. It is our belief that our clientele can achieve their long-term goals by offering services that engage them in consistent and coordinated ways. We advocate for community integration because becoming locally involved gives our clients a sense of who they are, what peaks their interest and what promotes a healthy lifestyle that impacts their lives in a meaningful way.

Beginning October 19, 2026, the City of W**d will begin the Main Street Demolition Project.

The burned and condemned buildings near our W**d office will finally be demolished, cleaned up, and removed. This is something our community has been waiting a long time to see happen, and we are very excited to see this area of Main Street begin moving forward. The City anticipates demolition activities will continue through late November, generally Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

SOC W**d Office Will Remain Open

Our W**d office will remain open during the project. However, because we are located so close to the demolition area, there may be periods of significant noise, construction traffic, dust, debris, or temporary access concerns.
Depending on the conditions surrounding our building, SOC may intermittently close the W**d office when necessary to ensure the safety of our staff, clients, and visitors.
If a temporary closure is necessary, we will communicate that information to staff as quickly as possible.

The City is also asking everyone in the area to use caution, follow posted signs and traffic controls, and avoid restricted construction areas.
