Brief(-ish) explanations of a spa menu: Facial edition.

What is a facial?
The term facial can describe a myriad of different services, but each one is going to contain a few of the same basic elements: Skin analysis, cleanse(s), exfoliation, extractions, massage, masking, moisturize & protect. Facials can last 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, or more depending on massage add-ons available at different businesses!

Who needs facials?
Everyone! Facials are foundational skin care. However, there are times when another treatment may be more appropriate depending on several factors (your home care routine, skin goals, time of year, events you may be preparing for, etc). Consult with your favorite esthetician to see what’s right for your next spa session!

What can I expect from a facial?
Unless the facial is advertised as being aggressive, facials are the relaxing and calming services at your local spa. You’ll be pampered and leave feeling rested, your face will feel soft and rejuvenated. If you don’t mask regularly at home, you may experience some purging (new breakout) the next few days after a facial- this is a good thing, it’s telling us our masking session was effective in stimulating the skin)! *side note: masking is such an important thing to do in skincare!! If you don’t mask regularly- you should start, like yesterday!*
You will not see major changes in your skin from one facial session. This is a maintenance type of service that just helps re-balance skin between treatments, also great when you’re stressed and just need a quick escape from the world!

Skincare isn’t just for your benefit today- it’s for your future face, too!! It’s imperative to have a daily home care regimen as well as having regular professional treatments done. Professional strength products have the capabilities to correct and change skin conditions, not just mask problems on the surface as over the counter products will do. Ask your local or favorite esthetician’s product recommendation for your unique skin type and goals! Also, be on the lookout over the next few weeks, I’ll be explaining a little bit about some common professional treatments and what you can expect from each one!

Just like wishing you had a 6pack but never going to the gym.... if you want great skin— I can help!!— but you’ve got to be willing to put in the work and make it a habit!! It is possible to have the skin you want!

Just playing around with my camera this morning... don’t mind my mess of hair or crazy face, but check out how easy and quick a face wax can be!! My ‘stache was starting to show, so thought I’d share my face wax process with y’all!! Quick, (relatively) painless, and not red or irritated after!! 😍😍 Love my Cirépil blue wax and Image Skincare serums to calm and soothe post-wax!!

Favorite non-professional product?? Tea tree oil (melaleuca) definitely!! This little miracle in a bottle is antibacterial, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, fungicidal... the list goes on!! I use this whenever I get some inflamed breakout to reduce inflammation and kill the acne bacteria in the follicle. It does have a strong scent, I've found people either love it or hate it... I personally LOVE it! It's fresh and clean and I love the tingle I feel when I apply it, it's like I can feel the bacteria dying!!! I got the bottle in this picture at Walgreens for about $10... as with most essential oils, the more you pay, the higher quality the oil is. If you've never used tea tree before and you have sensitive skin, it's worth it to invest in a higher quality oil to start out!

Sometimes, I'll get clients who get frustrated or discouraged when they don't see major changes in their skin after 1 or 2 treatments... this post is to help y'all understand why it takes a series of professional treatments- along with using professional product at home- to get those big results!! These 7 pages in the picture are my brief notes on the layers of skin... BRIEF. NOTES. If it takes me 7 pages just to jot down the name and function of each layer, why do we think we can change the complete look and feel of our skin with just ONE service?? We must be dedicated to a regimen appropriate to our skin type and targeted to the results we are looking for, and most changes take at least 30 days to really notice- as this is about the length of a skin cell life cycle!! Any changes to new or forming cells at the base layers of skin won't surface for about 4 weeks! So, even though you may not be seeing immediate changes, your skin is taking in all the good ingredients and working on your fresh new complexion!! We must just stay patient!! By the way.....It takes about 10 YEARS for sun damage to surface on our skin in the form of fine lines and wrinkles... that just can't be erased in a day!! Like working out to keep a healthy body, skin care is a journey to maintain healthy skin!

First, I'd like to say thank you for all the likes, follows, and shares!! This business is my passion and my little baby and I appreciate everyone for showing so much love and support!! And thank you for being patient with me as I work out ways to promote what I do! Now, down to business... I created this page to share my services with you all, and to have somewhere that isn't my personal profile to share specials as well as a place for clients to reach me with questions. However, I've received some feedback that it's a little confusing to have 2 separate pages associated with Bliss. So, I've gotten full access to the Bliss page and will be posting any and all business related information on that page. Specials, pricing, location and any inquires can be directed to me through Bliss. I'll be keeping this page for occasional informational posts about skin only, things I think are interesting, but don't have anything to do with my actual business!! Thank you all so much; and when you're ready to feel amazing about your face, call into Bliss at 765.289.2547 and schedule your next appointment with me!! 😘😘
